You can see and smell the making of the famous Utz Potato Chips and Snacks at our over 600,000 square foot facility in Hanover, Pennsylvania. There, we have built a special glass enclosed observation gallery that looks down on our production process...more

Need I say anymore with that title??
The tour experience is very dated but I kind of think if it ain't broke... Also what do you really want to see? If it's a factory working and watching potatoes go from dirty tubers to becoming chips...More
It's self guide tour. What we like it's a view-we could see the entire chips preparation process through the glasses long window. Over factory tour don't offer this service,at least for free and the tour, what we get in PA. Also, there some audio/video informations...More
This is the second visit to this factory. What an awesome part of history. In a world of high tech it is nice to see people working here. It’s ibteresting to learn the history and the lady who greets you is soooo friendly! Love it...More
We were in Hanover 10/11 and had some spare time. We didn't have time for the tour but did go to their store. We couldn't believe all the products that were available at a reasonable price.. We picked up several items to hand out for...More
I must have missed whatever it was that prompted others to write better reviews of this establishment.
The "tour" we encountered was nothing more than going to a 2nd floor hallway with windows overlooking the factory and warehouse floor. There were buttons to push which...More
Amazing! You watch unwashed potatoes come off the trucks, go through washers, get cleaned & sliced. Then they’re fried packaged and sealed.
The whole process untouched by human hands.
Very interesting, AND you get a free bag of chips. Guaranteed FRESH!
Short stop but worth...More

During our drive to Hanover, I would have expected to see some billboards announcing which exit to take; or, perhaps some street signs as we got closer to the factory. I was surprised that such a popular attraction does not have this type of advertising...More
The self-guided tour was free and quite engaging to watch how they make and package the chips. The facility could certainly use some updating. We received a free bag of chips following the tour and a coupon for a discount at the thrift shop, located...More

The self-guided Hanover factory tour is open Monday to Thursday: 8am-4pm. While no reservations are required, Utz does recommend calling ahead to ensure that the production facility will be open, as it does close from time to time. The phone number is 1-800-367-7629. You will find many things closed on Sunday in this area because of the number of church attenders. Check out the websites before you assume a restaurant or attraction is open.
Not really. There are stairs to climb up and no elevator available. I think there is a very limited sight line for the factory by taking another route but you can not look down and see the actual operation.
