Two different style courses, both well conditioned and well run. Decent breakfast buffett and simple yet good food available for lunch.

After looking around for many years my wife and I decided to visit Penn National. At first it seemed rather remote but upon further research we found a wonderful community and beautiful setting. Since I'm a golfer I played both courses and fell in love with each one for it's own attributes. Founders is a tough tree lined old style course while Iron Forge is an open links style course. Both are well maintained and golf trips will enjoy staying at the Inn and having the option of breakfast in the morning. Now, not only do I have an annual fall classic at Penn National, but the guys stay in our new house that we built in the community. Ahhhhh...

We try to play here 3 or 4 times a year. Labor Day was our first time this year. Only problem was the putting green was very slow and the greens on the course were lightning fast. We all 3-putted the first hole! Other than that, our experience was AWESOME! We played the Iron Forge course. Course was crowded, but we still played in 4 hours.

I have been a loyal patron of Penn National, playing both courses regularly for the past six years. Unfortunately, my recent visit has left me quite disappointed due to the noticeable decline in the course and lodging conditions.

The course conditions this year were far from desirable. The bunkers were like hitting off hard pan dirt, making it nearly impossible to play out of them effectively. Additionally, the tee boxes were uneven and riddled with divots, and there were numerous bare spots throughout the courses and around the greens, as illustrated in the attached picture. This level of deterioration is disheartening, especially when considering the excellent conditions I have come to expect in previous years.

Moreover, the state of the lodging facilities was equally concerning. My room had broken tiles in the bathroom, and the toilet was difficult to flush. While the food service was commendable, the overall decline in the infrastructure overshadowed this positive aspect.

As a dedicated customer, it is disappointing to see the significant decline in the quality of both the courses and the accommodations. It makes one rethink returning in the future if reinvestment into the courses and lodging is not promptly addressed.

I hope these issues can be resolved to restore Penn National to its former glory.

So about 20 of us have been going out here for a few days for over 20 years. The two golf courses are top notch and beautiful. The food is mediocre at best, usually cool, over cooked or stale. The new dining area is nice but three people from our group slipped on the new flooring coming out of the pro shop. The real horrible part of the trip is the rooms. Ours was dirty with a ton of black mold in the clear handle of the shower and God only knows how old the carpet is is because it’s worn and disgusting. If it weren’t for the golf and yearly get together I’d rethink staying here.

I probably sound like a PN employee sneaking in and writing this but, I was really as satisfied as I state below! Seven friends and I were at Penn National for a golfing weekend. Everything, absolutely everything, went well

I am a retired C-level executive and have traveled extensively, to some of the best resorts in the country. While PN is not The Breakers in Palm Beach, it is simply the right regional place to go for an unpretentious golf weekend with your buddies.

Three rounds of golf, two nights in hotel, two dinners and two breakfasts. The golf courses were in incredible shape. The hotel rooms were spacious and clean. The food was the biggest surprise....very very good !

Every, and I mean every PN employee I interacted with was pleasant and outgoing. Restaurant servers were great. Golf marshals and starters were incredible. Pro-shop folks were very helpful. The guys who took care of your clubs, carts, etc were simply "off the charts" pleasant and helpful.

At the end of the day, you leave your clubs, etc on the cart. The next day, your groups carts are lined up, ready to go, right near the range/clubhouse/restaurant !

No beer, wine, etc is available at PN. It's a dry township. I was at first concerned about that. However, they could not be more accommodating in a BYO environment. If you want wine with dinner, make sure you bring it with you. There isn't any retail location nearby, to grab a few bottles. Same with beer, bring it with you.....about a 4 mile ride (each way) to the nearest place, which is beer only.....crazy PA distributorship rules !!!!!!

PN provides coolers and ice as part of getting your cart ready. What i thought was going to be a burden, was not that at all. JUST MAKE SURE YOU BRING BEER AND WINE WITH YOU.

My friends and I just found our permanent location for our annual golf weekend. Goodbye Ocean City, MD. Goodbye, all others. Hello Penn National !!!!!

THANKS Penn National staff, for making this annual outing such a pleasure..

Spent a weekend here with three other couples. Two nights, three rounds of golf, two breakfasts, and two dinners. Perfect weather, two nice golf courses, and the nicest people from the minute we checked in until we left. Will definitely go back to this resort.

Worth coming to S. Central PA just for the golfing experience. This is a stay and play destination with a beautiful Inn and on-site clubhouse dining. Other activities abound for visitors or the visiting spouse. Special quilting retreat weekends, beautiful hiking trails on site, regular yoga classes, near to Destination Arts! Waynesboro, downtown Chambersburg, Michaux State Forest and more.
For golfers, this is really two golf courses- Founder's and Old Forge each with distinct features. Golfers will want to check out their webpages (http://www.penngolf.com/) for more detailed information.
Visit date is moot as we live in the Penn National community - BTW a great place to live- or retire to.

There are 2 courses - one is older and more traditional (trees and lots of sand), the other is more open, but challenging. Both were thoroughly enjoyable and worth the money.

We had a golf vacation and played both courses at Penn National: Iron Forge and Foundry. These are great and beautiful golf courses! We stayed at a hotel about 20 minutes away from the club house. These courses are set in the rolling farmland of Pennsylvania and are different from each other but complementary. One (Foundry) is a parkland style course and the Iron Forge is more open and links-like (but not a true links course). We would play there again!
