Great adventure for the kids. Took Saturday night regular fishing trip. Tried for Perch and Walleye. No fish for our party of 4. Total 3 Walleye caught on boat with about 20 fishermen. Staff worked hard trying to get fish on. Not our evening, had fun anyway.

I get it that sometimes the fish aren't on. We didn't catch 2 dozen, combined. Nobody was even getting hits. One gentleman had a double hook up and outside of a few here and there, that was it for 22 people. It wasn't a great day for fishing, hot, small breeze from the SW, the water was very clear, small waves. The crew was trying to be as helpful as they could and anything anyone wanted was attended to immediately. They were also very friendly but not to the point of going out of their way to try and be something they were not. Really nice guys. What disturbed me was that we were to leave at 7am but they had issues getting the boat fueled and it then had pump issues. We ended up leaving a little after 9am and the fishing went the way the day went. The owner was very apologetic and gave out free coffee and pastries to those of us who wanted it at their tackle shop. She also gave everyone a $10 ticket discount for the next time anyone chooses to go, no date limit. I will readily say that I had a really great time despite all the setbacks we had. I'm going back again, not because of the fishing part but because of the crew and owner.

Was charged 2 times for 1 trip, and they tried to get a 3rd time as I boarded and asked me for cash when you cant even book online without paying. Rented a poll. First mate was still rigging them up for 20+ mins after we got to the first spot. When I finally got a poll first cast I noticed there was 50 feet of line and we were in 40 feet of water. Not really enough. Second cast my rig flew off. Waited 15 more mins to get a second pole and the reel was on the right side, I reel left handed. I tried to switch it, but it was rusted on. I told the first mate, and figured while I wait 15 more mins for another pole I would use it. Turns out there was a knot on the line and it hung up at 10 feet, first cast. Got a new pole and the line was wrapped around the pole in between eyes. Waited for him to re-line, got it back and it literally didn't go through the last eye. Shocked I handed back. 15 mins later I get the pole back and it is wrapped around the pole in between eyes in a different spot. I'm not exaggerating. All this happened. Finally got a pole that worked, and got a bite... knot came undone at the rig and I lost the fish. Only good bite of the day. Been a few weeks now, still working on a refund for the overcharge. No one is getting back to me. Had they refunded me the overcharge I wouldn't have even bothered posting this.

We went out for a fishing trip with the Edward John crew last weekend, and we go several times a year. This trip is great family fun. We didn't catch a whole lot of fish this trip but that is unusual. Normally there are many many fish caught on each trip. The staff and crew are wonderful to fish with they are knowledgeable friendly and will bend over backwards to help you. They work really hard to put you on the fish. We highly recommend for the novice or the experienced angler..

i would have to say is that the first mate was excellent and that was it. there was zero motivation from the captain to go find the fish. we never were beyond a mile from shore and everyone knows that when it is summer and very warm out the fish are going to deeper water because its cooler, we maxed out at 40feet. there were 7 fish caught and 35 people on board. not a good day. only stopped at three previously marked locations and spent 1-2 hrs. each spot staring at out poles.

Minimal travel to find fish...captain wants to save gas. In order to catch perch, you need to go where the perch are. This captain seems to go to his plotted locations daily which are very close to shore. 35 people caught a total of 12 perch. We sat in one spot for 2 hours and nobody had a bite...who does that perch fishing. Save your money and go buy some fish if you cant get out on the lake

We do fish for Perch and Walleye because Lake Erie isn't as plentiful with Perch as it was many years ago.

My husband, daughter and I went out on the Friday before Father's day. The crew of the Edward John were kind, courteous folk. It wasn't that great of a fishing day, but my husband did catch a huge brown trout towards the end - and the crew helped him land it. This was my daughter's first time on a boat and she felt completely safe. The prices to go out on the EJ are extremely reasonable, and we look forward to going again.
