When I travel, I try to look at each experience with the perspective of what would I have done differently to make it better. This Victorian Princess Cruise gave me plenty of food for thought. First the upsides: 1) The management and crew were friendly and seemed to be working hard. 2) The food was fairly good. 3) The duration of the Saturday night dinner cruise (2 hours) was about perfect. 4) The interior of the boat was clean and safety precautions were followed. Now for the things that I wished they had done differently. 1) Cleanliness - - The exterior of the windows were filthy and there were cigarette butts all over the ledge of the deck outside across from our table. 2) Decor - - It wouldn't cost much to replace the cheap silk flowers that were in little vases on each table with some nice seasonal real flowers. 3) Roll delivery - - Instead of having a waitress running around and practically throwing each person a roll wrapped in aluminum foil, how about having her walk to each table bearing a tray full of rolls and have her delicately place a roll (with tongs) on a bread plate that had been placed at each table in advance. 4) Dessert delivery - - See above. Instead of tossing a (nearly) frozen brownie wrapped in cellophane at each guest, why not place them on a platter at the end of the buffet table. 5) Public Address System - - Fix it or don't use one. Nothing's worse than a system that cracks and fades in and out. 6) MTV-like Videos - - They need to go. The 80s grunge/hip hop videos playing on the monitors behind the bar at high volume were unnecessary and detracted from what should have been a peaceful cruise. How about some low volume background music - - jazz perhaps. (People are there in groups and want to be able to talk to each other). All in all, the Victorian Princess cruise experience is not a bad one, and if you go into it not expecting a professional, gourmet experience, you'll have a good time. The cruise has a lot of potential. From my standpoint, it just needs some "classing up".

The weather looked ideal for our 9/12/2020 dinner cruise on the Victorian Princess...and it was! The three of us were warmly greeted and welcomed aboard to the second deck in a timely manner. Although our original plan was for my SO, myself and another couple to attend and share a memorable evening of fun together, unfortunately one person had to renege. When I apprised Betty (the registration agent) of the situation, the cost of one ticket was immediately refunded! Pandemic protocol was strictly enforced both by patrons and employees which made for a worry-free evening. The meal prepared by Colony Bar and Grille was superb as was the catering expertise of caterers Dominique and Kathleen. I couldn't say no to any of the food choices: the presentation of braised beef, stuffed chicken breast and pasta was that good! I'm not excited about chicken BUT this dish was like eating chicken gravy over biscuits. I even asked about the recipe! And I must add that according to the guys, the braised beef was "The best I've ever eaten!" And what can I say about the quiet, efficient service of Dominique and Kathleen? They were available at every turn. When I spilled my iced tea, they were there with napkins for moping up and, without having to ask, offered to replace my drink. Yes, our dinner cruise is now a fun-filled memorable event. We shall return!

We have been on several paddle wheel boats for dinner cruises. This is one was the worst so far. Was there on Sept 6th Italian night. The boat ride was okay. The food not so much, The boat was very dirty. Had spider webs on the lights close to the tables, the windows you couldn't hardly see out of. Not impressed at all. The food, the menu said Chicken Parm. Not any there. Didn't see any meatballs. Lasagna was decent (not great) but okay. There seemed to be 2 young ladies running their behinds off, not sure how many people actually work during on of these cruises. But, they could have used some more people working. Also you pay a gratuity charge on you ticket. At the end of night the young lady's had a tip jar. So, don't know who gets the gratuity from the tickets. But, those two young lady's worked their tail off. Would not recommend the Italian dinner cruise maybe just a sight seeing cruise.

We were looking forward to this sunset cruise on the Victorian Princess AND I must say that the boat trip, itself, was quite nice. HOWEVER -- being that we are in the middle of a pandemic, I would have thought the cleanliness factor of the boat could have been stepped up by about 2000%. NOT to be hyperbolic but the boat was absolutely filthy. There were cigarette butts and used straws literally all over the decks outside. I actually took photos of it due to it just being so egregious. The stairs outside had litter on them. When I first walked upstairs to the dining area it was quite obvious that no had had bothered to vacuum the actual carpeting. All of this could have been fixed in a matter of hours with a shop vac and a regular vacuum cleaner. The crew, with the exception of the Captain, also weren't wearing uniforms so it had the feeling of a half-baked frat party rather than a professionally run cruise. There were spider webs all over the place and one of them was spinning a web just above our table. The ceiling tiles weren't in their setting so we could see all of the innards of the ceiling. It literally felt like someone had decided -- 20 minutes before the cruise -- that OH, I guess we'd better get that boat out of storage -- we have guests tonight. SERIOUSLY! Cleanliness protocols? Hardly. My 14 year old daughter said to me that, "she wouldn't be surprised if one of us didn't get COVID" from that cruise. So if you're REALLY hankering to see the sunset, I'd recommend just getting some take out and going to the beach. It was filthy! Not sure how else to describe it, unfortunately.
