About
Explore Delaware Water Gap's fascinating history as one of the top US tourist destinations a century ago, as well as an art gallery showcasing some of the best art in the Poconos! The Dutot Museum & Gallery is housed in a charming brick schoolhouse (circa 1850). On the second floor is a museum which displays and interprets artifacts pertaining to the history of the town. A video presentation is shown to visitors. Among the many displays are native American artifacts, Kentucky rifles, a drum from the war of 1812, land deeds and documents dating back to 1707, and resort memorabilia with pictures of famous visitors such as Fred Astaire and President Theodore Roosevelt. Also on the second floor is a recreated old time school room, with walls lined with class pictures from its 99 years as a school. You can still ring the original school bell in the belfry. The first floor features an art gallery with rotating exhibits of high caliber regional art. A second building contains a restored 1926 American LaFrance fire truck and other antiques.

I truly enjoyed the exhibit this month - McAllister/McAllister, two generations of painting.
While I have seen their work individually, seeing them together I could see that Leslie's work has similar lines that are in John's work...especially his landscapes.
Next visit I will check out the rest of your museum!

If you enjoy small historical museums, you want to stop here. The first floor is an art gallery with rotating shows of work from local artists. The second floor has two rooms. One room is a restored schoolroom, with interesting artifacts dating from the years this building was a school. The other room is stuffed full of fascinating memorabilia, relating primarily to the years that this was a booming resort community with famous visitors like Theodore Roosevelt and Fred Astaire. Admission is a bargain at only a few dollars.

This is an all volunteer museum. Has wonderful rotating art shows all summer and has a well curated history section upstairs in the old school house.

This museum is in an old one room schoolhouse. Historical slideshow and museum upstairs and art gallery downstairs. A special place, showing local artists from May to October. So glad to have it so close to home.

The second floor is the museum and contains much history of the Water Gap. Original documents, books, signs, post cards and instruments. It is worth a 1 hour visit.

Really two attractions in one. Downstairs is local art and has some nice execution by the artists. Upstairs is a museum on the local delaware gap area which has many interesting items to read. Would not suggest bringing kids as too old time look at displays no up-to-date electronic displays of items.

The Antoine Dutot house provides an opportunity to enjoy an art exhibit as well as to experience the history of the town. The building was once a school house and has a gallery on the first floor and the museum upstairs. The short film, memorabilia and displays covering the time frame from the inception of the town through its period as a resort provide insight into the area.
The art gallery and the museum is well worth a visit. Be sure to check their Web site for hours of operation.
