I have to say that this was one of the most kindest outfitters ever! We had done a pedal and paddle package. 3 hours of biking and then 3 hours of rafting in the Delaware Water Gap. We first rode our bikes, and unfortunately my bike's tire wasn't rolling after 2 hours but the other 3 people in my family had good bikes which worked. Then we had a lovely evening in the Delaware Water Gap. It was a calm and lazy river which we all enjoyed. The scenery was beautiful and I recommend all tourists to the Pocono Mountains to go check it out! The best part was on the day we booked it was raining and there were severe thunderstorms, but when we called the company and told them, they switched us to the next day! No refunds at all! Talk about a kind service! Please do check this out when you visit Pocono Mountains.

My family and I needed a safe mini-getaway for the weekend before school. I looked up several boat rental/day trip locations and Edge of the Woods Outfitters was the easiest site to navigate. Every question I had was answered with the information listed. The pricing was clear and fair for a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 kids). After booking, I called to change my reservation time to an earlier trek, and they were accommodating. The only thing I was not told until arrival was the 4 mile trek started later in the day than the 6 mile trek. But there was no additional cost for the switch, and we had time, so it was not a problem at all. The staff was friendly and helpful for our first family ride down the river. They provided the craft, life jackets, a map, a safety demonstration, and sent us on our way. It was an easy ride, with crystal clear waters and lush green scenery. A really nice way to recenter ourselves as a family before another week of school. I would definitely recommend it!

One word of advice: inflatable rafts are slooooooooooow and require a looooot of paddling to maintain momentum. If you want a faster craft, go with a kayak or canoe.

What an incredible staff! Everyone we interacted with was pleasant, knowledgeable, and happy. Our driver (Steven/Stephen) was great with the kids on the ride up to Smithfield Beach... so much so, that when the kids saw him Kayaking down the river later in the day they were calling out to him! The river was great with 3 adults and 4 kids in a raft it was a new experience for just about all of us. We did the 6 mile trip which took us a little over 4 hours with a few stops along the way. We all fully enjoyed the time on the river and exploring the beauty of the Water Gap. Our kids are 7(×2), 6 and 4, they endured the time in the raft well. Guidance from the staff on areas to stop along the way proved to be very helpful throughout our trip. We can't say enough good things about Edge of the Woods Outfitters.

One last note: Their shop has essentials that you may need for the river if you forgot anything and the pricing is reasonable and fair.

We loved being out on the water. It was a beautiful day and a fun summer activity. My concern is that the staff was chaotic and disorganized. When getting in the water, they did not have the right number of paddles and had to take some back from a family that was already launching and made other people wait. The staff member helping us almost tipped our canoe when launching.

We signed up to do the 10 mile canoe and everyone kept trying to only give us information on the 6 mile or make us stop after 6 miles (despite us arriving early in the day and having plenty of time to finish the 10 miles). We were made to feel like we were inconveniencing them by wanting to do the advertised trip we signed up for.

When we finished the trip and got back on to land, nobody from the staff gave us any kind of direction on what to do or where to go. It was obvious we belonged to their company because of the life vests we had but we were ignored until we started to walk towards the van/the employees where they scolded us to wait.

When we were waiting for the shuttle back to the business, a group of 5 men who were drunk, high, and belligerent were also waiting. Despite multiple male employees being around loading the boats, they made a young woman drive back these 5 out of control customers. They were disrespectful, loud, and borderline harassing this young female employee on the five minute drive back to the parking lot. It was an uncomfortable situation for us (two young women) but we felt even worse for the driver who said that THIS HAPPENS TO HER ALL THE TIME.

We loved the canoeing experience but the staff needs some retraining on dealing with customers.

Our rafting trips this summer were all booked at Edge of the Woods Outfitters. 🪵 They're service is superior. The associates are caring and extremely helpful. The equipment is top quality and their attention to our safety and comfort is superior. We love going on this trip. There are different places you can stop at and 3 different points were they can pick us up depending when we wish to end our trip. They are awesome and the voyage is nice. This is not rapid water rafting so it's great for family of all ages and even for certain disabilities. The rafts are very stable. You can bring a small cooler and food to stop and eat on one of the side islands or landings. You won't regret using Edge of the woods. Don't forget to stop by the bakery over there for freshly made pies, cookies and pastries.

Always wanted to spend a day in The Delaware Water Gap Recreation Area so I booked the pedal & paddle package from Edge of the Woods Outfitters. We were four (2 couples). They gave us the option of choosing between going to bike during the morning and going rafting down the Delaware river after lunch or vice versa. They even told us that we could do any of those activities in a different day from that weekend if we were staying in the area. We went biking during the morning along the McDade trail and after 1pm we went rafting down the Delaware river. We chose 2 canoes although they also have kayaks and rafts. We had such a wonderful time that day, everything was perfect, staff was very attentive and informative and all safety guidelines are being follow with the Covid-19 situation. You can book your adventure online or you can just walking in at their location where they also have a small retail store where you can find everything for your outdoor adventure. We will be back for another adventure soon!!!

Edge of the Woods Outfitters provided an easy, fun experience of rafting down the Delaware Gap River. This was the first rafting trip my family had taken together, and we had a BLAST! In fact, we are already planning our next rafting adventure, but this time we will book a longer trip (we scheduled a two-hour trip as it was our first time rafting; next time we will probably do the 6-hour or all day trip!). The team at Edge of the Woods Outfitters was very professional and courteous. Scheduling and paying for the trip on line was super easy, and ample parking was available onsite when we arrived for our adventure. We will definitely be using them again for our next outdoor Delaware Gap adventure. So so so much fun!!!

Very efficiently run and friendly. Online reservation system was easy to use, and when we showed up, on a peak day during July 4 weekend, they had plenty of boats and staff to handle the influx. We were quickly taken to the launch site and quickly picked up at the landing spot. They are definitely on our go back-to list!

This is our second time doing the Peddle and Paddle package. We decided to go as soon as they opened at 10:00 am and happy we did because when we finished biking, Smithfield beach was turning people away it was so crowded. The bike path is almost all shade so no need to worry about sun. The first 2.5 miles is a nice flat ride along the river. The second 2.5 miles is more challenging but so much fun. The trail is not as smooth and goes over a few small bridges and up and down some small hills. I'm 54 and don't exercise and was able to do this with only taking a few stops to walk the bike up some of the little hills. We didn't go past 5 miles because it was a lot more challenging and we still had to travel back the same route. The so-called "spring house" at the 5 mile mark is a good stopping point but I certainly would not drink the water as suggested. Maybe after a good rain but the water was not moving and there were all types of bugs in it. Unfortunately, some people had also dumped their garbage (gum, plastic, bottle) in there as well. Bring water and a helmet if you don't want to wear the ones they supply. We had packed sandwiches so stopped to eat them in our car before we headed back to the main base for the second half of our journey. After getting our life jackets and signing paperwork, we took the van back to Smithfield beach. Unfortunately, there is only one road into the park and we were stuck in a lot of traffic trying to get in. Our driver suggested that next time we stop at the base first to get our life vests and sign the paperwork before heading over to Smithfield beach for our bikes so we didn't have to take the van back again saving us time. I wish we had known that because we lost over an hour between trips.
Last year we used a canoe and quickly realized the benefit of a kayak when our backs were hurting after the 6 mile ride down the river with no back rest. This year we chose the kayak and it was a much more comfortable experience. The kayak has a spot in the front to store your bag out of the sun. We didn't need a waterproof bag but you might want one in the event you tip the boat or splash water. We stopped half way at an island and had the second half of our lunch. The river in the summer is very slow so be prepared to do a lot of paddling. The so-called rapids are very small on the 6 mile so nothing to be concerned about. You can also go around them if you choose. A great way to spend the day!

I wanted to find a nice place to take our company out on a trip down the Delaware River. After some searching and reaching out, Chuck was the first to respond back. He is very informative and runs an outstanding business. Definitely recommend to anyone looking to have an experience like no other, they took care of the boats, traveling back and forth, etc. They even had a fire and smores station setup for us to enjoy after the trip! We will be coming back to Edge of the Woods Outfitters over any other company, they are outstanding in all categories!! Thank you Chuck and the rest of the team, you were all amazing!
