    Great Experience, Good People
We, my wife and I, booked them for the 6 mile canoeing trip as we had been at their outfitters store before (small but good selection of hiking and water supplies at good prices). This trip was not planned but spur of the moment the day before. The staff was very friendly and helpful, explaining the trip and what we would see in very well. The wait to go to the river was short. All equipment was clean and in very good condition. The Delaware River was everything they said, and descriptions of where to go were accurate. Had a good time. Arrived at the end of the trip, exactly as described, beached the canoe and made the call to them. They were there to pick us up in about 10 minutes, which was great. Would definitely use them again.

    Our Fave Outfitter in Poconos
EOTW is our favorite outfitter for kayaking down the Delaware in the Poconos. Equipment (Old Town kayaks built like trucks) is top notch, and the staff makes you feel part of the EOTW family. Highly Recommend.

    pedal and paddle package
We did the pedal and paddle package which is flexible. You could do both on the same day or in 2 consecutive days. We biked 10 miles on day 1 and kayak 10 miles on the following day. The view from the river is amazing. The staff were professional, courteous and friendly.

Great Company to handle Delaware River trip
We rented a tandem Kayak for a 7 mile trip down the delaware. The crew took us to the drop off point, went through the safety talk, pushed us off and we enjoy a lovely afternoon kayaking down the delaware. They were at the pick up point when we arrived and took us back to our very quickly. The entire experience was great start to finish. Everyone of the staff was helpful and polite. I first class operation.

    Excellent Company to Work with
Edge of the Woods Outfitters came recommended to me by a friend; and they did not disappoint. Quick and easy process to reserve, arrive and depart to location, as well as quick pick up at the end of a 16 mile kayak trip. Cost effective. Friendly team. All around a great group to work with when you want to have an adventure on the River

    Canoeing & Rafting
Fantastic father and son canoeing trip from Bushkill to Tittakinny; early start offered by outfitter was key to a great day on the water. Day 2- rafting for family of 4 from Smithfield Beach to Tittakinny; laughs all the way around and not overkill on the effort. Edge of Woods allowed reschedule for rafting trip to allow for recuperation from sunburn earned on Day 1 !!! Great group to do business with; we’ll be back for a multiday paddle w/overnights.

    Great business, loved the trip!
My wife and I took a tandem kayak for the six mile trip. It took us a little over 2 hours. Very peaceful and enjoyable with a few small rapids along the way. Good way to spend time together enjoying the river. Edge of the Woods handles everything from beginning to end including picking you up when you’re done. Great time!

Simple and easy going flow to an enjoyable day.
The hole trip was planned and booked at 6pm the night before. I selected a 1000 departure but ran a little late. They were so accommodating and easy going. The process was so simple from start to finish. They make you leave a vehicle key with them for accountability of their equipment as well as you. I actually like the idea as it is one less thing you need to worry about losing on the water.

    Great trip
This company knows exactly what there doing. From the people who drive the vans for customers to be picked up after the excursions and before starting out. Everything is totally explained from the start of the trip right up to starting your river ride. Even the people at the launch site explain and go over the instructions. This company is awesome. Highly recommended.

I have to say that this was one of the most kindest outfitters ever! We had done a pedal and paddle package. 3 hours of biking and then 3 hours of rafting in the Delaware Water Gap. We first rode our bikes, and unfortunately my bike's tire wasn't rolling after 2 hours but the other 3 people in my family had good bikes which worked. Then we had a lovely evening in the Delaware Water Gap. It was a calm and lazy river which we all enjoyed. The scenery was beautiful and I recommend all tourists to the Pocono Mountains to go check it out! The best part was on the day we booked it was raining and there were severe thunderstorms, but when we called the company and told them, they switched us to the next day! No refunds at all! Talk about a kind service! Please do check this out when you visit Pocono Mountains.

We loved being out on the water. It was a beautiful day and a fun summer activity. My concern is that the staff was chaotic and disorganized. When getting in the water, they did not have the right number of paddles and had to take some back from a family that was already launching and made other people wait. The staff member helping us almost tipped our canoe when launching.

We signed up to do the 10 mile canoe and everyone kept trying to only give us information on the 6 mile or make us stop after 6 miles (despite us arriving early in the day and having plenty of time to finish the 10 miles). We were made to feel like we were inconveniencing them by wanting to do the advertised trip we signed up for.

When we finished the trip and got back on to land, nobody from the staff gave us any kind of direction on what to do or where to go. It was obvious we belonged to their company because of the life vests we had but we were ignored until we started to walk towards the van/the employees where they scolded us to wait.

When we were waiting for the shuttle back to the business, a group of 5 men who were drunk, high, and belligerent were also waiting. Despite multiple male employees being around loading the boats, they made a young woman drive back these 5 out of control customers. They were disrespectful, loud, and borderline harassing this young female employee on the five minute drive back to the parking lot. It was an uncomfortable situation for us (two young women) but we felt even worse for the driver who said that THIS HAPPENS TO HER ALL THE TIME.

We loved the canoeing experience but the staff needs some retraining on dealing with customers.

This is our second time doing the Peddle and Paddle package. We decided to go as soon as they opened at 10:00 am and happy we did because when we finished biking, Smithfield beach was turning people away it was so crowded. The bike path is almost all shade so no need to worry about sun. The first 2.5 miles is a nice flat ride along the river. The second 2.5 miles is more challenging but so much fun. The trail is not as smooth and goes over a few small bridges and up and down some small hills. I'm 54 and don't exercise and was able to do this with only taking a few stops to walk the bike up some of the little hills. We didn't go past 5 miles because it was a lot more challenging and we still had to travel back the same route. The so-called "spring house" at the 5 mile mark is a good stopping point but I certainly would not drink the water as suggested. Maybe after a good rain but the water was not moving and there were all types of bugs in it. Unfortunately, some people had also dumped their garbage (gum, plastic, bottle) in there as well. Bring water and a helmet if you don't want to wear the ones they supply. We had packed sandwiches so stopped to eat them in our car before we headed back to the main base for the second half of our journey. After getting our life jackets and signing paperwork, we took the van back to Smithfield beach. Unfortunately, there is only one road into the park and we were stuck in a lot of traffic trying to get in. Our driver suggested that next time we stop at the base first to get our life vests and sign the paperwork before heading over to Smithfield beach for our bikes so we didn't have to take the van back again saving us time. I wish we had known that because we lost over an hour between trips.
Last year we used a canoe and quickly realized the benefit of a kayak when our backs were hurting after the 6 mile ride down the river with no back rest. This year we chose the kayak and it was a much more comfortable experience. The kayak has a spot in the front to store your bag out of the sun. We didn't need a waterproof bag but you might want one in the event you tip the boat or splash water. We stopped half way at an island and had the second half of our lunch. The river in the summer is very slow so be prepared to do a lot of paddling. The so-called rapids are very small on the 6 mile so nothing to be concerned about. You can also go around them if you choose. A great way to spend the day!

I was visiting The Delaware Water Gap area on vacation and was interested in doing a canoe or kayak fishing trip down the Delaware river. I didn't think that a Kayak would allow me to carry the necessary equipment for the trip. I contacted 2 other outfitters before calling Edge of the Woods. One of them would not allow me to take a canoe on my own. The other would allow me to go alone, but would charge me for 2 people. (The price of the canoe was based on 2 people and they wouldn't reduce the price for only one person.) Edge of the woods offered to let me use either a tandem kayak or a canoe and only charge me for one person so I made my reservation with them. When I showed up they were expecting me and I was the first person to show up for the day. They had me complete the paperwork, explained the safety procedures and got equipped me with paddle and life jacket. They shuttled me to the put in spot even though I was the only client there at that time. When I got to the take out spot there was a person waiting to take the canoe and there was a shuttle waiting. It was easy, no hassle and no unnecessary charges. I highly recommend Edge of the Woods.

We rented 2 tandem kayaks, all went smoothly. The folks at Edge of the Woods did a great job explaining all we needed to know ( we were first time kayakers ), with lots of pointers about navigating the river. I even caught 2 largemouth Bass, thank you to our guide for the info on where the fishing hot spots are.
We had lots of fun and I highly recommend Edge of the Woods Outfitters.

Had a great day out with 3 friend from work on a kayaking trip with Edge of the Woods. It was an easy ride down the river, and it was a great social event as we could chat all the way down. Stopped off along the way on the river bank for lunch.
Enjoyed it so much I organised a trip for my family and 3 other families the following week to try the rafts.
Edge of the Woods make it such an easy day out - friendly staff, who drop you off at the start and collect you the other end! Thanks very much for 2 great trips out!

Our rafting trips this summer were all booked at Edge of the Woods Outfitters. 🪵 They're service is superior. The associates are caring and extremely helpful. The equipment is top quality and their attention to our safety and comfort is superior. We love going on this trip. There are different places you can stop at and 3 different points were they can pick us up depending when we wish to end our trip. They are awesome and the voyage is nice. This is not rapid water rafting so it's great for family of all ages and even for certain disabilities. The rafts are very stable. You can bring a small cooler and food to stop and eat on one of the side islands or landings. You won't regret using Edge of the woods. Don't forget to stop by the bakery over there for freshly made pies, cookies and pastries.

Edge of the Woods Outfitters provided an easy, fun experience of rafting down the Delaware Gap River. This was the first rafting trip my family had taken together, and we had a BLAST! In fact, we are already planning our next rafting adventure, but this time we will book a longer trip (we scheduled a two-hour trip as it was our first time rafting; next time we will probably do the 6-hour or all day trip!). The team at Edge of the Woods Outfitters was very professional and courteous. Scheduling and paying for the trip on line was super easy, and ample parking was available onsite when we arrived for our adventure. We will definitely be using them again for our next outdoor Delaware Gap adventure. So so so much fun!!!

The owners are involved and ensure your experience is safe and memorable.
Logistics and equipment
We rented 2 solo kayaks wilderness - very good shape, paddles adjustable, feet rest adjustable and in good shape., dry compartment.
Everyone was social distancing, limited number of customers waiting for transportation, on time departure, great safety pep talk before and at the launch.
Journey
We did the 6 hours tour in 4.5 and stopped for 30 min lunch and swim. It was my friend's first time kayaking and he thoroughly enjoyed! Easy paddling down the Delaware.
A must do summer/fall activity.

This is a really well run operation and all the guys who prepped us, drove us, etc. were really great. We were just a little disappointed that the web site said it would be a 3 hour experience and we finished in under two hours. By the time you realize you're coming up on the bridge they tell you to look for near the pick-up spot, you don't even want to hang out and idle for awhile (as a possible way to extend your time on the water) because the last stretch is right next to a really busy highway and it's not very peaceful. I would recommend the longer trip if you want it to feel more like a 'day of kayaking.'
