The wine a Chadds Ford is solid. This review is about the events. We’ve been attending all events for 20 years. It changed hands a while back and this review of change is from the Adult Trick or Treat: We’ve been attending this event for many years. We even bought the “kit” to do it from home last year (Covid). We were so looking forward to this year. First year tickets were $38. Didn’t add anything extra. This included the usual 5 samples and 5 small snacks. We paid anyway for the atmosphere. We got there and stood in a 40 minute line in the rain to be “escorted” around to the stations in large groups which took forever. If you were in the back you couldn’t hear the descriptions. This was so disappointing. Then we realized we could not sit and split a bottle of CF wine. That was not allowed. Instead we had to purchase a glass for anywhere between $6 and $8. (A bottle of apple wine costs $13 retail).

Two weeks ago, we walked here (we live very close) and arrived about 2:30. Very pretty surroundings and a fair amount of people. We "checked in" at the front table and found out you can only buy wine by the glass. You can buy a bottle in their shop, but they won't open it for you, Weird! So we go to get a glass of wine and there is only one place to get it (at a small building/shed) and the line is 25 people long! We stood in line for 10 minutes and gave up. Who wants to wait in line for a half hour for every glass of wine? Not me. Thank goodness there are more wineries close by that are more accommodating.

We had gone to the winery trick or treat for a few years pre-pandemic and really enjoyed it. We were happy to finally make it back this year only to find the format completely changed. Instead of walking around independently and chatting with our friends, we had to be escorted in one large herd from station to station while a staff member talked at us. It took forever for the tour to get started despite the stations being empty and we found our tour guide to be too militant. He was kind of a jerk. It used to be so fun but they took all the fun out of it. It was agreed by all, it was the end of our Halloween tradition. What a disappointment.

A guide at the Visitor’s Center strongly recommended this place for a nearby refreshment break. There was a friendly guy at the register who explained their offerings and my friend settled on a Harbinger which was similar to a Pinot Noir (she loved it). They offered several wine flights and light food (we had the Eclat, chocolate pretzel bar and the marinated mushrooms) and we sat outside to enjoy the live music. It was a perfect way to spend the afternoon.

Great place to spend an afternoon with family and friends. Several seating areas, patio, covered patio, picnic tables with umbrellas and a large meadow for kids to run in. You can buy bottles of wine and wine slushies but they need to have more than one variety. The winery needs to put more thought into it but it is beautiful already. They had a meat food truck there but a better bet might be a dessert truck or a charcuterie truck. Something that lends itself to wine drinking with friends. I did buy a nice cheese spread with crackers from the winery. They have several types. Get a top notch local bakery to bring in fancy desserts, macaroons and nice breads to pair with the wine for the weekends. Also the winery might want to put in an enclosed fish pond with waterfalls and gold fish. Nothing adds to the ambience like running water. Absolutely will go back. Lots of ample parking also.

For a wine tasting you choose from a pre-selected menu, you can't pick the wines you are considering for purchase. The wines are served to you without any labeling, so you don't even know which wines you are drinking. And the sweet whites picked by one member of our party were far from sweet. We usually leave wine tastings and purchase multiple bottles of wine. We left Chadds Ford winery empty handed.

Hello and thank you for visiting. I'm sorry that you did not enjoy the format of our wine tasting flights. We offer several curated flights that change seasonally, as well as a "Choose Your Own" flight option that you can customize to your preferences. It is our standard practice to identify and describe each wine when it is delivered to your table. I sincerely apologize if you did not receive this level of service at your visit. I hope you will consider giving us another try. Wishing you all the best.

New to the area we decided to do tastings at a few local wineries. This one was frustrating from start to finish. Upon entering the winery there is no greeter to direct you (as first time visitors) or inform you of the procedure for a "tasting". We wandered around 3 rooms until we saw a paper taped to the wall with an arrow to the tasting room, which is down in the wine cellar. Went downstairs, where we were very curtly informed that we have to get our glasses and purchase the "tasting" upstairs. We went back upstairs to do so, where there was no rhyme or reason to the procedure. One of the employees selling the tastings was telling people to get in line, while the other was taking care of whoever decided to walk up to the counter first. The "tasting" consisted of an assembly line of people at 3 stations, pouring a sample into your glass and rushing you onto the next station. The first pourer was in such a rush to fill my glass that she didn't give me the chance to place it on the counter and poured it all over the outside of my glass and down my hand. She didn't offer me a napkin, or apologize, but just said "you can't move your glass all over the place while I am pouring". Ok, then. The rest of the pourers were more customer friendly; however don't bother to ask any questions about the wine, or expect to get a true taste of it because they are in such a hurry to get you out of there. We "tasted" 10 wines in less than 10 minutes. No water to rinse the dry red from the glass before someone quickly pours in a sweet white, and no cracker to dry the mouth between varieties. I believe (it went so fast I amreally not sure what the heck we sampled) there were 8 very sweet and 2 dryer wines. But what came next was the icing on the cake. We decided to stay for a glass and something to eat (big mistake). There is a charming little rustic room in the back with tables and chairs and lovely photos of the area on the wall. I sat at a table with 2 glasses of wine while my husband went to buy food. There were about 6 or so tables for 4 and a few for 2. Other than a group of 4, we were the only others in the room. I have a bad knee, so whenever I can I elevate it, which is what I did here. On a chair at my table against the wall; with my feet off the seat so as not to get the chair dirty. A couple entered the room to sit at a table for 2 when the woman said to me (exact quote) "would you NOT put your feet on our chairs please?"' When I said "excuse me?" She repeated it again and when I inquired as to her connection to the winery she arrogantly said "he's the owner", pointing to the man she was with, who then stretched out his hand and introduced himself. The owner said something about it being crowded today and they needed all the seats they had for guests. Again there were exactly 6 of us in the room which had seating for at least 25 or so. Clearly this establishment puts very little emphasis on customer service or satisfaction. There are many more wineries in the area which offer a pleasant experience. Needless to say, we won't be back to this one. Oh, and one more thing. The restrooms are "out of order" and they send you out to porta potties.

I bought wine tasting for two from coupon site for my boyfriend and I. He has never been to a wine tasting but I have been to several wineries and have had wonder experiences. I wanted him to have that same experience and education but it fell short on so many levels. We walk in and had in our certificate and were handed a glass with 3 raffle tickets in it. So classy and sanitary all at the same time. Right? Then we were directed to go down stairs, we passed the vats in which the wine is fermented and follow the signs to the wine tastings. Into the bottling area where we were directed to place two tickets in a bucket where a gentleman stood with four wines sat on a board that stretched across two barrels. He gave the name of the wines and the flavor but nothing it would pair with. Once we sampled the four wines we were directed across the room where another station stood. A young woman gave us samples of the next grouping and again no pairings. Once we were done we had to show ourselves out. I did purchase one bottle of wine with the flyers logo and only for the logo not because of the experience or because of the flavor. So do yourself a favor unless they change the experience here, go to another winery because you will be severely disappointed I know I was!

I write a lot of reviews, and they are always balanced, and mostly positive (just check me out). So it is highly unusual of me to give a really negative review. But frankly, I don't know how else to describe this experience.

We ( four Seniors) arrived around 10:30 on a rainy Memorial Day Monday. The very young staff was setting up for a wine-tasting event of some kind. We asked if the winery was open for tasting and told “yes”. The guy who served us was very friendly and three of us paid $10 each for the tasting of 7 wines. The wines were OK, a couple were very nice and the sommelier even offered us a tasting of a couple of others not on the menu. He apologized that we were using small stemless glasses instead of their regular glasses (we already have 6 from previous visits) and suggested we could exchange them for stemmed glasses in the shop.

We went into the shop to buy two bottles of the wine we liked most. There were three women serving at the counter, one appeared to be in charge. When she saw we were carrying the glasses she said “You must give them back”. I protested, we had paid $10 for a tasting including the glasses. She became, if not aggressive, very assertive and said “we want them back”. When it became obvious I was not going to give up easily, she said, "oh very well, we’ll give you a discount of $5 on the wine". As it appeared that I couldn’t do any better than that, I agreed. However, she also firmly (almost forcibly) removed the glasses from my wife and friend, and as they are very easygoing (unlike me) they surrendered them without any argument. So two of us paid $10 for 7 sips of wine, I paid $5.

We go to many wineries for tastings, and this was not only the worst value we have encountered, it was appalling customer service. When I relayed this to the Sommelier who served us outside he looked sheepish, apologized and said “I don’t know what their problem is, but we seem to be short on glasses”.

We go to the Brandywine area regularly to visit Longwood Gardens and the various Dupont houses, as we are retired. I’ll give you only one guess as to whether we will return to Chadds Ford Winery.

Purchased an Amazon Local deal for Gourmet Chocolate and Wine Tasting for Two People with Two Keepsake Wine Glasses. Went there on Friday 1/16 and was told they didn't have any chocolates and would give us a bag of gourmet goodies, which were leftovers from the Holidays and get additional wine samples. Goodies were average at best and no extra wine samples. Very disappointed. Also, the parking lot was icy.
