The CFHS is a hidden gem offering a wide range of experiences for all ages and from all backgrounds in knowledge and understanding about our local colonial era history. They have exhibits/tours at the John Chad House, the Barns-Brinton House and the Visitor Center. They host terrific events to include Chadds Ford Days weekend, the Pumpkin Carve, and the Christmas... Chadds Ford Winery is a fabulous local winery that makes wonderful, though a bit pricey, wines. They have lots of fun social events, such as music and food festivals, in addition to everyday wine tastings. It's definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.

We were in Chadds Ford and discovered that many of the sites were closed on Monday and Tuesday (when we were there). We happened to be driving by the historical society on Tuesday morning and saw cars out front so stopped by. To our delight, there was a private tour and they graciously allowed us to join. The tour of... More

Enjoyed learning how Chadds Ford, PA got its name and viewing the house where John Chadd ran a tavern. There is not much to see in the museum so our visit was brief.

It is THE place around Chadds Ford to learn about our history. It has old-old stuff, and fairly new stuff. Always a good time

They pay such beautiful homage to a time forgotten by most. The scenery is of course beautiful made exquisite by period homes. Great for educating kids about a different time.

Two wonderfully restored eightteenth century houses--John Chads House and Barns-Brinton House (a colonial tavern) as well as great family events--Chadds Ford Days (weekend after Labor Day) and Pumpkin Carve (Thursday, Friday and Saturday before Halloween). They also have a house tour of local homes the first Saturday in December--great to "peek" into how other people live and see fantastic houses... More

First thing to note is that two house plus a small barn museum is available to tour so give yourself at least 2.5 hrs as one house is 2 miles down... More
