Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania is a public university in Pennsylvania known for its athletic activities. I first learn about it through the collegial tennis matches. Getting there feels a bit remote; it is kind of half way between New York and Philadelphia. The best way to peak at the campus is an exploratory walk but a drive gives you some idea as well. Nice location along Susquehanna river.

Events at Haas are A+, wonderful acoustics, seats and prices are good too. I have seen many top quality singers, acrobats, etc... Carver in the heat is dreadful, the AC is non existing or undersized and that makes for an uncomfortable show...

I attended Bloomsburg part time from 2011-2016 as a non-traditional (older) student. I was enrolled in the Creative Writing program there and pretty much followed my favorite Prof, Jerry Wemple, around. Took al his classes and he was one of the greatest support mechanisms for me in my undergrad years there that I have ever had on the college level. He wants his students to succeed and they do. Bloom has alot to offer on many levels. Lots of opportunities to attend literary readings, lots of oportunities to speak your mind in a fair minded environment, and professors who take a genuine interest in their students and teaching their classes. Bloomsburg even has their own alien encounters! Yes, sorry but I have to say this.. I have seen orange orbs, and lights in the sky in this sleepy little town -- that would rival any alien encounter film. So.... its a great place to sky watch too! Out of my experiences here several short stories, poems and a recently published novel arose out of this place. The only bad thing, for me was the math department. I HATE MATH! I wish to God they would remove the math requirements for creative writing students .. it held my graduation up tremendously and I honestly didnt feel the "creative right brained types with math learning disabilites" received enough sympathy or clinical support. I will just chalk that up to poor funding -- but it was a real battle for me. I finally found a private tutor there who could wrap his head around my mathless brain, and I finally-- barely- passed the college math requirements for graduation. That however -- is my only bad experience, so over-all they get A's for being a great school that knows how to teach, mentor and inspire. Thanks! PS Asst. Chair Tina Entzminger is a genius .. she was one of my favorite go-to gals for advice on classes, and technical concerns. Just a friendly tip.

I graduated from BU 33 years ago. As I was in the area I thought I would check out both the university and the town. The university has degraded into just another liberal crap hole. All the wonderful and quaint shops on the main street in town have turned into nothing but shops that cater to the university students wants and needs. The liberals have definitely destroyed both the university and town. Very sad state of affairs. I definitely will not send my children to BU.

Seems like a really great campus. My niece really likes it there. She heard many good things about the business school. Everyone we spoke to and she introduced me to was friendly and relaxed. Good visitor experience.
