My wife and I had to reschedule twice due to inclement weather (high winds), but the third time was the charm! We did an early morning flight and watched the pilot and crew setup and inflate the balloon. We took off on what was a smooth, calm, and pleasant ride. We floated over the farmlands for 10 miles or so at 2000 feet. We landed on a farm and we were warmly greeted by a woman on her bike who asked how our flight was. The chase crew in the van was there within seconds of landing and we packed the balloon up and drove back to our starting point in Bird in Hand. We finished the experience off with a champagne toast.

The pilot and crew were great, very friendly and professional. We learned a lot about balloon flights and we're very glad we had this experience. Well worth it, and we highly recommend the United States Hot Air Balloon Team in Bird in Hand, PA.

I booked a hot air balloon ride almost 2 years ago and it got cancelled due to the weather. I was glad the booking was a lifetime booking in order to take another shot and hopefully go. I finally got to go and it was well worth the wait. We took the early morning flight which was beautiful watching the sunrise and seeing the early morning sky. I was in a basket with the pilot, a couple and my best friend. The pilot said we were 1000 feet in the air. For me, that was comfortable. We had two other balloons up with us. The views from above were gorgeous and I got some great shots. Our pilot Kirby was great and he took the edge off by making bad jokes :) The ground crew was awesome especially with the landing since we had to land in a parking lot. This company prides itself on safety and will not fly in bad weather which I think is great. This was my birthday present to myself for turning 50 three years ago and my best friend came along for the ride. I am happy I had the chance to do this and would consider doing it again if I am able to. Happy Travels everyone!

Super restful and peaceful - flying above beautiful farmland over the Pennsylvania Dutch country side. We landed in an Amish farm and the community watched and waved as we packed up and were shuttled back to our cars. The staff of the flight was polite and informative and the “toast” and prayer at the end was a cute touch. I know that mask restrictions are lifting with high numbers of vaccinated citizens but we were the only couple on the shared ride wearing a mask with fidelity. No worries - I will purchase a private ride next time to avoid others; however, it would be great for this company to include some explicit masking guidance for attendees. We were unclear of what we could request of others next to us because the rules were unclear.

what a scam, disorganized event charging over priced tickets to wait in long lines for nothing, there were no balloons to see, ride, or photograph. what a joke. the people putting this event on in Bird in Hand should be ashamed of themselves.

My husband, daughter, son-in-law, and I drove 1 hour and 15 minutes to the Lancaster Balloon Festival on 9/17/22 to see the 40+ mass balloon ascension at 5:30pm. Only 5 balloons launched, much later than scheduled. After waiting until 6:50pm, no other balloons launched. Finally we left at 6:50 pm, as did most other observers at the festival. We have no idea why the other 35+ balloons scheduled to launch for the 5:30pm ascension never launched. The weather was gorgeous, approximately 80 degrees, sunny blue clear skies, and minimal if any winds. Sunset was at 7:10pm, so there was no time left to launch the other 35+ balloons.

The balloon festival tickets were $15 per person just for admission. Food and games were additional costs. Parking was $10. This was an absolute waste of money for anyone that attended and paid to watch the balloon launch at 5:30pm. I will not return to the Lancaster Balloon Festival in future re years.

I traveled severals states to be able to take this balloon ride. I called very early every morning to confirm flight but received a recording every morning saying it was cancelled even though the weather was perfect. After 5 days of cancellations I had to return home and was told I owed them a 15% handling fee because THEY cancelled ME! There is a reason why the Better Business Bureau has given them a rating of D-! That's right, D-! I wish I had discovered that before I paid for The Flight That Never Happened! (Edit- This happened in 2018, not this year)

So... I booked about a week ago for a flight that was originally supposed to happen on Wednesday November 19th, it got cancelled. So, I called and rescheduled for another flight on Saturday the 21st. When that got cancelled... I was told I would be charged a 15% booking fee. I explained that I was not the one cancelling, they were. Their explanation was that I could reschedule the flight for any future time and come back for the flight but for finding out your flight status, there is only a 2 hour window. Specifically, you have to call at 1PM to find out if there is a flight at 3PM. I live 3 states away and it would take me several hours to get there. It’s impossible! Let me re-iterate, I don’t get why $87 of my $584 ticket cost will be kept by this company when I am being told they have cancelled. I DID NOT CANCEL, THEY DID! Anyway, if you are visiting Pennsylvania please be very aware that regardless of whether or not you actually go on a balloon flight, you will be on the hook for a “booking fee” of 15%. In my case I lost almost $100 because I asked to have a seat on a ballon that was going to fly whether I showed up or not... with up to 10 people on board. You will be charged, even if THEY cancel. That’s just bad business.

That was the ride of my life! Amazing experience, lovely team, super friendly atmosphere. It was my first ride and I wanted to take as many pictures as I could while trying to be in the moment at the same time. I recommend being 100% in the moment though cause what you see and feel up there is beyond beautiful. I will be back soon for sure, with no camera this time, to capture every single moment with all of my sences because no picture or video can show what you can see with your own eyes. I’ve never been able to breathe such a fresh air, feel such a nice breeze, hear quietness like that or experience peacefulness like this before here on earth. I am beyond amazed. It was hard to get back on earth with your mind after this. I really was in heaven.
Huge THANK YOU to the whole team and our pilot Jake for making this experience so magical.
Can’t be more grateful for that!

Paid $1200 + $72.00 booking fee for flight for myself land three friends.
Tried contacting via telephone several times regarding certain things....and never got a real person on the line. Phone calls were never returned.
On the day of my flight, i called their number and got a voice mail saying flight was canceled. Nothing else. No reason. Juist canceled.
Out of my $1200, they kept $180. The $72.00 booking fee does not get refunded. Sooooo..they made $252.00.

I will never attempt another balloon flight with them. Not worth the risk of losing money.

This was not our first hot air balloon trip, but it was the first time the company has cancelled, kept 15% of our ticket price plus the $50 booking fee. They're contract does state keeping 15% if they cancel, but nothing about the booking fee. I certainly understand cancellations due to inclement weather, but not keeping upwards of $200 because they decided to cancel the flight with no explanation. Just be sure you want to lose that much even if you don't get to fly.
