About
The house lights dim... A hush settles over the audience in this Lancaster theatre... When the cast steps on stage, you're in for a treat. It's an intimate theatrical experience that keeps Guests coming back. Presented in conjunction with Blue Gate Musicals, relevant and meaningful Broadway-style musicals from Amish Country have made our stage one of Lancaster County's must-see stops for live performances. For the 2021 season, we are thrilled to present a new Blue Gate Musicals show – "The Best of Me" – and also to welcome back the wildly popular "Ryan & Friends; A Comedy Calamity". Join us to celebrate the holiday with the new musical "The Christmas Tree Ship". So escape your everyday world for a little while and enjoy our live stage shows. To enhance your Amish Country theater experience, come early or stay after the show to taste the bounty of our table. Enjoy a meal at our Bird-in-Hand Family Restaurant & Smorgasbord or grab lighter fare at the nearby Bird-in-Hand Bakery & Cafe.

Excellent performance of the cast; this is 2nd show we’ve been to there and ONLY THING disappointing is the seating and theatre. For the price paid there should be a better theatre building for this show with more comfortable seating arrangements and updated stage. Otherwise AWESOME for both shows seen on our visits. (Might look at building a Theatre like the Ohio Star in Ohio Sugar Creek community.

"The Best of Me" was funny, just a great comedic production. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Not a bad seat in the intimate venue, sound levels were perfect and not overwhelming. Great parking (but be aware that the attached restaurant can be very busy, so you may want to either eat very early here or eat somewhere else.) We'll definitely be back to see another performance here.

We went to see Ryan and Friends in their small, intimate family friendly comedy club setting. The performance was very funny, keeping my teens laughing the entire time. Ryan and Friends is a ventriloquist act on par with Jeff Dunham talent, just much cleaner. We really enjoyed it!

We made the mistake of seeing the American Music Theater Christmas show in the afternoon and then going to the Bird in Hand show in the evening. The AMT show was absolutely spectacular and made the Christmas Tree Ship look even worse. About 30 minutes in my husband said, the hotel pool is looking good and we left. The AMT show cost only $5 more than the BirdinHand show...I think they need to lower their ticket prices.

My wife, Alison and I are producers and directors in the entertainment industry. Bottom line: we were entertained! Worth the ticket price.
PRO: original musicals with actors who actually know how to act.
CON: The Company did a nice job with sound, lights and seating, but this isn't a theater. It's an oversized conference/banquet room.
NOTE: Get the package deal: show and food. Upstairs at the restaurant, you can enjoy an all you can eat buffet before the show.

We were expecting a performance like the ones we have been to but this performance was one person Ryan. He is a professional vintrilagist. His mouth didn’t move once and boy was he good and lots of laughs. His friends were puppets. At the end Ryan gave a testimony of how he has been out of work for 5 months due to the virus but shared with us how God has more than supplied his needs.

This was a really funny show. There were times I could not catch my breath I was laughing so hard. Ryan keeps the show family friendly and some of the things he does are amazing. I will not give them away, but it is beyond puppets. That is all I will say. Great show! Kid friendly. Parents and adults will like the show as well.

Top flight productions here. Never saw a bad show and we've seen a number of them over the years. Going back for another show towards the end of May.

We were unable to stay for the full show. Left at intermission due to seating being chairs from the buffet which were very uncomfortable. With tickets costing $40.00 a piece, and the audience being mostly 55 and older please consider upgrading to theater chairs.

This was our first visit to Bird In Hand Theater. They were showing "Half Stitched" based on the book by Wanda Brunstetter, a musical comedy about an amish lady teaching a class on quilting. The characters who showed up were quite unusual to be attending a quilting class. It was hilarious and sometimes sad at the same time. If you ever get a chance, don't miss this absolutely awesome musical.

Can I see a picture of the seating chart for the theater?
JoeHend
Bensalem, PA44 contributions
Yes Debbie you can. You do have to select the show of interest and a window will open with a block that says "Buy Tickets Online". Click on that and dates for the show will open. Click on any date and the seating chart will open with available seating. It's a small venue but sweet and the shows are great,
What seats are the best to see everything on stage or are they all good?

Thank you for your question Donna. Because of the tiered seating, they all have a good view. I prefer about 5 rows back in the center, but that's just my personal preference.

Hello jeverett003. Thank you for your question. Noah is a Sight & Sound show. They are currently showing Samson. During the month of May, Bird-in-Hand Stage will be showing The Confession until July 14, followed by Josiah For President from July 22 through November 5. I hope this information helps.
