About
The house lights dim... A hush settles over the audience in this Lancaster theatre... When the cast steps on stage, you're in for a treat. It's an intimate theatrical experience that keeps Guests coming back. Presented in conjunction with Blue Gate Musicals, relevant and meaningful Broadway-style musicals from Amish Country have made our stage one of Lancaster County's must-see stops for live performances. For the 2021 season, we are thrilled to present a new Blue Gate Musicals show – "The Best of Me" – and also to welcome back the wildly popular "Ryan & Friends; A Comedy Calamity". Join us to celebrate the holiday with the new musical "The Christmas Tree Ship". So escape your everyday world for a little while and enjoy our live stage shows. To enhance your Amish Country theater experience, come early or stay after the show to taste the bounty of our table. Enjoy a meal at our Bird-in-Hand Family Restaurant & Smorgasbord or grab lighter fare at the nearby Bird-in-Hand Bakery & Cafe.

Thoroughly enjoyed "The Best of Me"
Oct 2021
"The Best of Me" was funny, just a great comedic production. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Not a bad seat in the intimate venue, sound levels were perfect and not overwhelming. Great parking (but be aware that the attached restaurant can be very busy, so you may want to either eat very early here or eat somewhere else.) We'll definitely be back to see another performance here.

Intimate venue
Jul 2021 • Family
We went to see Ryan and Friends in their small, intimate family friendly comedy club setting. The performance was very funny, keeping my teens laughing the entire time. Ryan and Friends is a ventriloquist act on par with Jeff Dunham talent, just much cleaner. We really enjoyed it!

Ryan and Friends
Jun 2021
This was a really funny show. There were times I could not catch my breath I was laughing so hard. Ryan keeps the show family friendly and some of the things he does are amazing. I will not give them away, but it is beyond puppets. That is all I will say. Great show! Kid friendly. Parents and adults will like the show as well.

Pleasantly surprised
Aug 2020 • Couples
We were expecting a performance like the ones we have been to but this performance was one person Ryan. He is a professional vintrilagist. His mouth didn’t move once and boy was he good and lots of laughs. His friends were puppets. At the end Ryan gave a testimony of how he has been out of work for 5 months due to the virus but shared with us how God has more than supplied his needs.

A Christmas to Remember for Holiday Depression
Dec 2019
I attended the play A Christmas to Remember last night with my wife. You would think it was difficult to turn a joyous holiday like Christmas into a depressing, unbearable, hour and a half play but this Bird in Hand Theater Production did exactly that. We enjoy the theater and attend both professional and local theaters often, but this is by far the worst production I personally have ever witnessed. I don’t know who wrote this production but I am certain they were a holiday manic depressant. Not only is this production depressing, it was poorly written and poorly directed. If you want to ruin your holiday and fill your stocking with gloom and depression, please by all means, see A Christmas to Remember and then make every effort to forget you attended.

Thoroughly enjoyed “Stolen”
Oct 2019 • Friends
Our last night in Lancaster, called to get tickets before we left home. We really enjoyed the musical, and the acting and singing was phenomenal! My personal favorite character was Fannie, but everyone did a great job! Hope I get to return some day, and watch a different production.

Stolen Stole Our Hearts!
Oct 2019
Not sure we would enjoy a "who dun it?" but we certainly did! By intermission,we were trying to determine who it would be, and then a surprise ending proved us all wrong! Definitely would attend again and highly recommend.

Enjoyed the play
Jul 2019
Went to see the play STOLEN and enjoyed the play and the story it told. Would have been a lot better with a nicer theater. It seemed like the took a meeting room and turned it into a theater. It was in the basement of the restaurant with low ceilings a a very small stage. The actors did a great job with the small space they had to work with.

Fantastic!
Aug 2019
Going to theater has always been my very favorite thing to do. I’ve seen almost EVERY play on broadway. I have to tell you this group of young actors did a marvelous job in presenting
“Stolen”, inspired by the book, the daughters of Lancaster country.
I was so impressed and although it was long (3 hours) it kept my interest and was intriguing; a really fun “who done it mystery”..
if you get a chance, definitely check it out, I was skeptical, but glad I did.. it was fantastic!

Seating leaves something to be desired
Aug 2019
If the seating had been more comfortable; watching the performance of Stolen would have been more enjoyable.
The performers were talented. Lighting, sound, special effects well done. But we will not be returning since sitting in uncomfortable chairs for two hours is not appealing.
