My husband and I were exploring the town and decided to check out this museum. They did not have regular exhibits in the summer, they had different stations where you could make things. It appeared to be aimed at children, but I sat down to make a small painting. The idea was to leave your painting behind, but choose someone else’s painting to take home. I loved this idea. I took a cool painting of a lion face, a great souvenir. There is also an exhibit dealing with the Underground Railroad on the third floor. They did a nice job with that.

This is a great museum that showcases different artists each month. This in a historical building that was used as part of the underground railway helping slaves escape the south. This is run completely by volunteers and exists by donations.

My first visit was during Bellefonte's annual Victorian Christmas weekend. Upon multiple returns since, I've never been disappointed. It's a small town museum, so don't expect the National Gallery. But what they have is very good, often has some local tie-in, and multiple rooms allow for the sense of exploration. Go. You'll enjoy it.
