I wasn't expecting much when I pulled up, but this living history village proved to be a worthwhile visit!! The staff/volunteers were all very informative and hospitable, and the houses are marvelous. You really feel like you are stepping back in time!! The potter and the chandler (candlemaker) were my favorites. Be sure to check this out!!

The village is made up of buildings that were gathered and moved from the local area. Buildings range from 1700's to mid 1800's. Only $10 to get in. Lots of things to see.

Wonderful place to visit if you love history. The interpreters are very knowledgeable about their area of expertise. I really enjoyed talking to the lady making the trim for aprons etc. She had a wonderful wooden machine to help her make the trim, and was excited to demonstrate to anyone that would watch. The candle making building was great too,... More

If you've driven the middle to western end of the Pennsylvania turnpike, you've probably passed this attraction or seen the billboards for it a million times. We did for like 20 years until one day we decided to skip the Bedford service plaza and check out the town itself. What a wonderful surprise -- charming town, good restaurants and interesting... My kids loved walking around and looking at the village. It was beautiful and very informative. We would love to come back when we have more time to visit.

Not my first visit - and won't be my last. There is something down home and fuss free about Old Bedford Village that is simply enchanting. We were there for the Brigade Napoleon Grande Tactic - a meeting of folks who think living in 1800 is the way to go - and it was a hoot. Soldiers everywhere in the... More

It was so interesting to walk around and see how families lived in the 1700's and 1800's. The gift shop has so many nice things. You won't leave empty handed.

This village has a good cross-section of historic buildings. Some have interpreters or craftsmen present and others have interpretive signage. I participated in a Napoleonic reenactment, and the village does many similar special programs through the year. These are especially good for family visits. The shop has a nice assortment of locally hand-crafted items. The covered bridge at the entrance... More

Quaint little walk though village of historic homes and businesses. Very educational for children and adults. Reenactment and meet and greet with Generals and Civil War Women. Cute little gift shop with many homemade gifts from that period. Lots of dipped candles and pottery. A very pleasant afternoon and some friendly horses. Stop and eat at Boss's right off the... More

A village that takes you back in time 2 centuries. Original beams and furniture from American history. I was there as a member of Confederation of Union Generals - every weekend in the summer, they try to have an historical group there to interest with guests and give informational demonstrations/talks, etc.
