We had tickets for a wine tour out of the Oregon Wine Garden restaurant to include 3 wineries. We were called well in advance and told that we should arrive an hour later, that we would visit only two wineries, and have a light lunch before leaving on the wine tour - sandwiches or salads. To our pleasant surprise, we were given a full menu (minus the pizza) and told we could order soup or salad and anything else on the menu. Because it was so much food, we split a salad and each had a hearty sandwich. The restaurant is bright and airy, overlooking the golf course with its ponds and flowers. The building also includes a wine tasting bar and downstairs, a more casual dinning area. Our young, personable waiter was there for lunch and again when we returned for more wine tasting!! The owner was also on hand to greet us, answer questions, and even provide levity to the afternoon.

We had no idea what two wineries we would be visiting (and that in itself was fun). After boarding our stretch limo (with a very fun family of 6 - the restaurant made sure we had been introduced), we drove through the beautiful country side to Whiskey Hill winery, a brand new winery. We were the first tour they had had. We very much enjoyed the staff who poured our tastings. Every one liked both the whites and reds. They kindly extended a 15% discount on our purchases. Our next stop was Villa Catalana in Oregon City. It was reminiscent of Italy with spectacular grounds. Although we did not enjoy the wine as much, the owners who poured the tastings, were a delight. They also have wine dinner available at what seems to be a very good price.

Back to the restaurant, we were treated to five more samples of local Oregon wines (some wonderful and others debatable but that is what wine tasting is all about, right?). This Oregon Wine Garden certainly does an outstanding job of promoting Oregon and it is only about 30 minutes from Portland

Located in a very nice residential area. We sat upstairs in the dining room with a view of the golf course. Friendly, knowledgable staff. We had an order of lollipop lamb chops & Brussel sprout appetizers. Very good, total $17. 5 flights of Oregon wine tasting, $10. Quality wine selection.
