RE: The comments about NO COAST TRAIL in Waldport

Recently undertook a ten day trip up and down part of the Oregon Coastline from Astoria to North Bend and can honestly say that this has to be one of the drives to do before you die. There are so many highlights scenery wise it would be unfair to rate one above the other however among the top sites would... More

Half Brit gives some very good information about the Oregon Coast Trail through Waldport, but, I am going to disagree, just a bit. If you are careful to notice the daily tidal projections, you do not really need to do any walking on highway 101, other than over the bridge. In fact, you can walk the beach all the way... More

All the reasons to visit the area are summed up in the drive from Florence to Newport. With Cape Perpetua and the Siuslaw National Forest to the expansive coastline, pristine beaches, and so many good places to stay and eat, this is an area of the USA that must be visited to be appreciated. The bridge crossing the Alsea River,... More

I am a local, and am in Waldport often. The Oregon Coast "trail" that goes through Waldport should NOT be confused with the 804 trail in Yachats (8 miles to the south) nor with any other trail that goes through forested areas! There is no real "trail" going through Waldport. To follow the trail route, you have to walk alongside... More

The Oregon Coast is a must see. The coast itself is spectacular and the small beach towns have their own attractions and culture. It seems (although some I'm sure will disagree) that the further south you go the more rugged the coast becomes. That said, do not miss Cannon Beach, Depoe Bay small harbor, Waldport and the Alsea River, Yachats...... More

So if you like crystal clean beaches. Amazing sunsets. Great fishing. Tons of camping and RV parks. Waldport is the best kept secret in Oregon. Don't tell anybody....

Some dedicated folks in the Yachats area really have added a wonderful and informative wayside on the Oregon Coast Trail near milepost 166. The Amanda Trail and bridge and Amanda Memorial Statue are only accessible from the trail, and a small wide spot on Hwy 101, and well worth the stop and hike in the Coastal Forest. From the bridge,... More

NO real trail here! The "trail" is either the beach or the highway! Although the Oregon Coast Trail goes the length of the state, in some places it's simply NOT a "trail" by any stretch of the imagination. Waldport is one of those places. Coming from the north, going southbound, the "trail" is along the beach sand. Okay, fair enough.... More
