Great ride and great sights, but take your time! The road winds quite a bit in some places and easy to fall into the drainage ditch when riding on the inside lane if you're not paying attention as the lanes are narrow. Be certain to have a full tank of gas too. Lots of places to stop to enjoy the... More

Take your time on this drive to enjoy the views. Pull over when you can and get out of your car and take a short walk to enjoy the scenery and the smells. Be sure to stop at Crown Point. The view of the Columbia River is awesome.

If you have the time, jump off the 84 and take the 30. It is slower, but worth the time. You can even see some of the waterfalls from your vehicle. We drove as much as we could on it. I wanted to take the Mosier exit and do the 16 miles on it to The Dalles. My Westway Magazine... More

Winding through forests, cut into granite walls, this old highway is worth driving, even though it will go more slowly than the freeway. You can stop at several falls--Latourell is an easy walk in, and the stone formations are fascinating. And of course Mustnomah Falls--the longest year-round falls in the US--is fabulous.

This is a nice winding drive that takes you along the old highway. Lots of photo opportunities and places to stop and hike to see beautiful falls. Very nice on a weekday afternoon , might get crowded on weekends! Vista House is a must stop.

Easy stop to see the river and beyond! There is a small gift shop inside that sells little souvenirs and coffee. Great spot for a picture!

A great drive, all around. Driving by all the waterfalls and the farms was fantastic. There were not very many cars on the road while we were driving, but every place we stopped was packed to the gills with vehicles. There are great views everywhere, and great hikes and walks at nearly every stop. Do yourself a favor and make... More

Easy to drive even when busier near towns. Great views of the river all along the way. You may notice the Lewis and Clark freeway on the other side of the river. A slower way to go but with equally great views. Multnomah falls is a nice place to stop and take a break from driving.

We drove the Columbia River Highway on I-84 from exit 64 at Hood River to exit 35 where you can take the Historic Columbia River Highway route 30 to see the waterfalls. I-84 has signs telling you where to exit if you want to take the waterfall route which parallels I-84. I-84 if a fast pace interstate and easy to... More

This stop we found was quite busy but was so worth it. The view was amazing. Be sure and continue on the road, don't to back.
