One of my personal favorite bridges, mostly because of the history in the region. It's now open again, repairs are finished.

Visit the Grave Creek covered bridge for a history lesson. See the grave site of Martha Crowley who died there after crossing Mt. Sexton. Historical maker. Next to the Applegate Museum which is a very interesting place it self.

This spot has an interesting place in southern Oregon history, but there is little left to see. The museum was closed on Monday.

Beautifully maintained, it's easily accessible from I-5. History abounds in the area, but very few buildings are left. The 1846 grave that gave the name is a few feet north of the bridge. There is a good sized parking area next to the interpretive sign.
The museum is closed because of COVID, but travelers can take photos from outside the fence.
No restrooms or picnic tables are available.
It's an important stop for history enthusiasts.

Stop at the Museum to learn the sad sad story of the young girl who,s grave is just behind the bridge. The creek is named for her grave. the bridge is unique in that the openings on the side are in the shape of coffins...Watch out for the speed bump, and bring cash to the Museum

This bridge covers Grave creek, just a few yards from the Applegate interpretive Center. The complete story is told in that center and well worth a visit.

We saw the sign for Grave Creek Covered Bridge when we were driving south on interstate 5. The bridge is a couple of minutes drive from I-5.
We liked seeing this historic covered bridge and it was fun that one can still drive one's car through the bridge. It is one of the few remaining covered bridges in Southern Oregon.

My first encounter with a covered bridge, and you talk about AMAZING!! Make sure to read about the history before the bridge, and check on the grave behind it! I think this Texan may have to move here!! ;-)

See if just 1/4 mile east off I-5, Exit 71. The bridge is one-lane, well constructed and in great shape. An informative sign tells the story of the bridge's name, having to do with the death and burial of a 16 y.o. on the nearby Applegate Trail in mid-1800s, the result of bad water. A grave marker is just eastward over bridge.
