A friend that lives in Salem recommended a visit to Silver Falls. We spent a lot of research time trying to understand the park. We spent an evening together before our trip trying to figure out where to park, which falls can be realistically reached...More

In mid Sept we were in the Portland area with plans to visit the Columbia River Gorge and visit the waterfalls. Due to the fires we had to change our plans. In a travel brochure on Things to Do in Oregon we found the Silver...More

I am a casual hiker, but have hiked in several U.S. states and a few different countries. Silver Falls is one of the best hikes I've done. The full loop (7.2 miles) has 10 waterfalls, each uniquely picturesque. At least three waterfalls you can walk...More

Oregon state parks have always been heads and tails above any other states we have visited parks in. It has been about 20 years since we were in Silver Falls and I would say they have only improved. This is one of the state parks...More

We only saw the south falls and the lower south falls in our about 2 hour hike. The trail of 10 falls if over 7 miles long, so just keep that mind if you want to see them all. The 2 that we saw were...More

This is a short drive from the quaint town of Silverton, which you pass on your way to the falls if you are coming from Portland or Salem. When we arrived at the falls it started pouring so we went back into town and grabbed...More

Beautiful water fall that can be viewed from all aspects - including from behind it! Short walk/hike that can be steep but not difficult. Definitely worth the stop.

Beautiful area, well maintained, not too crowded. Staff are very welcoming and helpful. The complete hiking trail is strenuous but you can pick the sections you want to attempt to avoid some of the more difficult areas.

We only walked to the South Falls because one of us was injured and not up to the full 7+ mile walk to see all 10 falls, but it was still very much worth doing. There's a trail that circles under the cliff so you...More

It's hard to give an exact answer. I'd probably give it a couple more weeks as most the trees near me are still pretty green (& we're not far away from Silver Falls)

Go to ReserveAmerica to get camping reservations there. There is also a biking/hiking campsite near Lyons, to the south about 2 hours bike ride depending on your route.
