We enjoyed our first trip to Portal Escape Rooms. We chose the “Outlaws of El Paso”. The theming was wonderful and very authentic. Three different rooms made up the escape with lots of locks and even music! I enjoyed the use of the old-time props and furniture. I would definitely return to try another adventure.

I have completed four of the Portal escape rooms. They do an amazing job with their themes and puzzles. Rag Doll and the Mansion are super creepy. I can't wait to complete the rest of the Manion escape rooms.

Our group reserved a room for Tomb of the Gods. The puzzles were challenging but fun. The design of this escape room was exceptional. We had an amazing time and the operators gave just the right hints at the right time to keep us moving. I would recommend Portal Escape Rooms!

During Thanksgiving headed south to visit my family in Eugene and decided to check out Portal Escape Rooms.

We were new to escape rooms and even our most reluctant family members had a good time. When you arrive at their Springfield location they greet you wearing white coats which gives a fun “mad scientist” feel. They check you in, give you a key so you can lock up all of your belongings (no phones and bags in the rooms, so you might even want to leave that stuff at home if you can). They then play a short informational video on how things work with the rules. After, they escort you to your rooms and start the timer. You have 60 minutes to solve all of the clues and reach your objective.

They currently have 3 different rooms that they are running: “Tomb of the Gods”, “Tokyo Heist” and “The Outlaw of El Paso”. We did Tokyo Heist and The Tomb of the Gods. The Tomb of the Gods involves 3 rooms with a variety of puzzles you have to solve involving some acts of physics, working out all sorts of codes and just using intuition in finding clues hidden all over! As beginners this was a fun room to start with. It is considered mid-level on the difficulty scale.

The Tokyo Heist is a series of 4 rooms and has been rated as the hardest set of puzzles they have right now. We found it both challenging and fun. I think Tokyo Heist was my favorite in regards to design aesthetic. There is a lot of thought and detail put into each space and you really get the sense they are trying to give you the best experience possible.

Being complete newbies when it came to escape rooms we learned there is a small learning curve when you first get in there and the Tomb of the Gods was our first venture into the world of Escape Rooms. You need to change your mind set to one that is more investigative and curious. When you head into the room you are given an iPad that allows you to communicate with “control” and they will give you clues or prompts that help you along if you need it. You can have as many clues as you like, but after 3 clues are given you are no longer eligible for a spot on the leader-board.

This is a great activity for a family and all ages help in different ways, although I would say kids 6 and up are going to do better than the itty-bitties. You are working for an hour and that can seem like a long time for the under 6 age crowd. Everyone thinks differently and it is an interesting experience for families to work together! This would also be great for businesses who need team building activities.

We have done an escape room once before, in Portland. Our daughter wanted to try Portal Escape Rooms for her 19th birthday, and we had never experienced their rooms before so we made the plans.
We as a family were so glad that we did. Here is the thing, the designer/owner have taken the time to create an adventure/escape, that is truly creative.
We chose the "Tomb of the Gods" scenario, and were immediately pleased as the rooms brought the experience to life by the use of sound, lighting, and well made props.
The movement from one room to the next gave the sense of completion followed by the energy of a new challenge.
The owners are fun to interact with and enjoyed learning about the business and their creative plans. We were fortunate to have made it through the tomb with some minor assistance, and enjoyed having that feeling of success as a family.
It was also wonderful to receive a picture of our experience via email once we had returned home.
I recommend this to any of you with a sense of adventure. Be prepared to be challenged.
We will definitely be back to try their other challenges!!

This was hands down the best escape room I’ve done. We completed the Temple of the Gods and it was a complete visual and auditory experience, unlike many escape rooms where you’re just in one small room with a few cheesy decorations. I really felt like I was really in a jungle temple! These guys have gone above and beyond to create an experience that feels real. Everything in the room is high tech and automated. These brothers created the sound scapes and designed all of the autimation and puzzles themselves. They even designed the interior and clues to be replicas of real ancient Aztec artifacts. I’m telling you, go to portlal escape rooms...you will not be disappointed! In fact, your mind will be blown

Everything was top notch about this experience. We enjoyed solving the puzzles as a family with various ages (11, 13, 40's and 70's). The staff was friendly and went out of their way to make sure that we had a terrific experience the entire stay. The iPad clues helped us through our first experience of solving these puzzles while staying the experience without a voice from the outside. We loved that the puzzles were in multiple rooms and when enough puzzles were solved in one, a large door would go up to revel the next section. Our experience provided three rooms. As a family, we enjoyed that there were some kinetic experiences as well as other various puzzle solving techniques. The entire family was able to participate in some way. We can't wait to go back! We are so glad we chose this location for our first visit. The business also followed up with a nice thank you email.

What a blast! We did the Voyager room, and it was WAY more challenging than the one other escape room that I have done. There were so many fun and interesting puzzles/problems. We used ALL of our hints, which were provided to us by a tablet. The staff was super nice and took our picture so we have a fun keepsake. I highly recommend Portal!

This was the first time for our group of five to visit an escape room. We had a great time. The staff was helpful, friendly and inviting. We all enjoyed ourselves immensely. We are looking forward to doing another escape soon.
