This is a 2 DAY process. So, make sure you and the shop have schedules that sync. The different places are open to blow on different days. This shop fit my schedule.

You make your piece one day. It has to cool. And you pick up the next day.

Mine will have a very special use (we will cross the equator and the International Dateline in 1 trip.). We have a 28-day cruise coming up, so I made a globe. The end is open and I will collect sand, shells etc. After I am done putting stuff in it, I have a glass button to silicone onto the bottom to seal everything inside.

You get to pick the colors. And it's very hands on.

A float is $65. If you want to make one like I wanted, its $10 more. Extra cost is due to them having to grind the bottom and you get a stamped piece of glass for the base.

Amanda (artist) has a strange sense of humor. Once I understood she was pulling my leg.. I was able to relax.

I want to make another.

My husband and I have been going to the Edge for several years, we have an awesome time every visit. Amanda, and Amanda are great people. But Amanda the glass blower goes out of her way to meet all our wishes, and makes our visits full of precious memories. Thank you to all of the staff at the edge!!!!!! You are awesome.

They booked us with no wait time. There is definitely a learning curve to blowing glass, but it was a great experience for our group!

My wife, daughter, friends and myself visited this gallery on a recent trip to Oregon. We had stopped a numerous glass blowing businesses during the day and decided to stop here on our way back to our accommodations.

I have to say the store had some very nice pieces of glass artwork in it including glass balls you can add items in (sand and seashells were in some) and they will close the end hole when you are done. In the window looking into the glass blowing area they have all sorts of glass floats hanging with all the colors available. You can customize your float or other purchase with those colors. This was pretty unique to this establishment, but you could customize a glass object at other stores too.

While in the store the clerk/counter person was very informative and helpful. My wife was looking to purchase a glass globe to use as a nightlight, a gift for relatives back home. (We had seen them at other businesses.) The clerk was very helpful in picking out the colors, making suggestions and said there would be no problems with making a globe for a nightlight. We placed our order, gave our cell number in case of problems and were told we could pick the nightlight up in 2 days. (24 hours to make it and additional time to let it cool down so it wouldn't crack.) The artist was not in the store when we placed our order. We were excited about the order and were looking foreward to picking it up on the way to the airport for our return trip in a couple of days.

We were staying in Yachats, Or. and where we were renting a home where there is limited cell service. We did go out and about often (after breakfast we were sightseeing and were within cell communications service quite a bit while visiting the area.). We received NO calls from the Edge Gallery while we were out and about.

On our last full day in Oregon, we stopped by to pick up our nightlight. The clerk said the nightlight had NOT been made as the artist had some questions. There was a note on the order form stating a call had been made to us, but we never returned the call, so no nightlight was made. The artist was at the business, so when she came out we asked about our situation. She had a very defensive attitude and said she had some questions and made a call, but nobody called back, so she didn't make it. We explained we had never received a call and tried to show her our cell phones. She got more defensive and said something like; I don't know about that, but I made the call and nobody called back, so I didn't make the globe."

We were very disappointed and she couldn't even say what the questions were! Her whole attitude was disturbing for an establishment that supposedly takes custom orders all the time. We couldn't figure out what questions she might have had. EVERY glass blowing business makes the same sized globes and most have those you can put things in, like seashells, sand, rocks and nightlights. The openings in those globes are pretty much a standard size in all the stores we visited. Had she made the globe and it wasn't right or we didn't like it or didn't return to pick it up, they could have just added it to the inventory and sold it!

I would NOT recommend ordering anything from this establishment. There are plenty of other businesses with similar pieces of artwork in close proximity to this place with comparitive prices. The ones we visitied that had artists making glassworks seemed happy to see us (and other customers) and were friendly and informative.

IF the artist attempted to call us and we didn't respond, a second call could have been made (or send us a text to say "Please call, we have a question!"- we told them it was a cell phone!). Totally disapointing way to end our visit to the central Oregon coast.

Our son was here visiting from the east coast & wanted to try this. We stopped in & he was able to make his glass float right then & there, off season has it's benefits. It was great fun watching him try his hand at this. Amanda was great with her instructions & is quite funny. I will come back & try my hand at it. Looks like fun.

My husband and I have made several glassblowing projects at a different studio - but this was by far the best experience yet! Make a reservation ahead of time and just enjoy the experience! We will be back

You can blow your own float here. It's 65.00. It's best to make a reservation ahead of you know when you are going. You can't take the float with you on the same day. There is a cooling process. You can pick up the next day or have it mailed.

My wife and I have taken the glass blowing class here three times. Twice by ourselves, most recently treated our daughters to birthday gifts with the class. Amanda is awesome!!! She has a gift both as an artist and a great teacher. If the gallery didn't have her, they would be at a huge loss.
I don't know who owns this place, but I am impressed with their choice of staff and artists.
Our family will definitely return for another memorable time.

This is our second time to visit this gallery. My wife has made a glass bowl on two separate occasions and is hooked. I'm sure we'll be back. The individual class takes about 45 minutes. The instructor made it a lot of fun. We have had the same instructor both times. If you are doing a glass blowing class be aware that their safety rules require you to NOT be wearing shorts and you also MUST be wearing close toed shoes (no sandals etc) to participate.

We came here and took the glass blowing class with Amanda. What a fun time! Amanda was our teacher. She is informative, safe and very saucy! We loved our experience with her. We made the float bowl. They turned out fantastic. They are a great memento of our vacation here on the coast.
