Amazing View, OK wine
Aug 2021
This is one of the most beautiful tasting rooms and views that we saw in Willamette valley, on our trip this summer that included 10 wineries.

The service is also top notch.

That said it's a winery and it was in the bottom 2 of the places we visited.

I don't want to discourage anyone from going but will tell you that there is better wine to be had.

Excellent view and good wine

We were traveling from Portland to Newberg when we decided to stop. We remember it was rated highly for its view and certainly did not disappoint. It was a beautiful day to sit on the patio and perfect for sparkling rose. We loved the visit and enjoyed the wine.

Not Great Place for Servicing Minorities

I went to this place with my sister and sister in law for some wine excursions at 5:45pm today on a Saturday . This was our first time here. Initially the menu is small which isn't an issue. We ordered the wine tasting menu , charcuterie and a flat bread. It took a while for our food to come, and some of our order was given to another table. In our area , there was one large party and one small table near the wine bar area. Accidents happen which is fine when our order given to another table.

Halfway , we asked for silverware, which never came, and the waitress said at the verrrrryyyy end when we were about to pay , that she couldn't find a fork in the kitchen. ??????

We noticed the waiters kept going over and checking on a larger party. They haven't come back till the very end of our experience when the waitress asked if we wanted anything else , as we proceeded to order, she told us that they were closed.??????? They didn't inform us there was a last call, they didn't check on us, but pretty much told us we can take a bottle to go. I can see if we were in a blind spot, but only three tables on a Saturday evening, right by the wine bar.

The wine was excellent , food was decent. But service needed help. They helped everyone else except us, and it showed, I would have gladly bought a few bottles , but I cannot with the service in this place. Applebee's has better service.

If you are from the younger crowd or even a minority maybe not the best place to go to. That's too bad , I wanted to like this place. I hope there is some retraining, because the lack of care and negligence showed at our table.

Welcoming Visitors Despite Covid-19
Jul 2020
So here we were in the Willamette Valley looking to try some local wines. I had checked various websites and some wineries indicated that tasting was by appointment only and others were rather silent on how to visit. After driving to five different wineries and being turned away because we did not have an appointment, we found Hawks View. Their tastings also require reservations but we were able to sit on the deck and purchase a flight of red and white wines. They also had some appetizers for purchase. It really was a pleasant end to what had been an unexpected hiccup in our trip to the Willamette Valley.

Lovely view, not much else
May 2019
The view really is lovely, they have a deck that overlooks trees with Mt Hood in the distance if its a clear day. That was where the positive experience ended for us. The tasting room is incredibly busy, lots of large groups of people, children, so many distractions that honestly took away from the view.

The wine was ok. We've had older bottles from Hawk's view and found them well balanced with lovely notes both on the nose and on the pallet, the newer vintages can't even touch the older wines. It did not help that they were served at air temp. Chardonnay, Pinot, Cabernet, they all taste a bit different depending on the temp served at. When the bottles are outside on an 85 degree day, that is usually not how the winemaker intended them to taste.

Wine Tour - Last Stop
Jul 2019 • Friends
If it wasn't for the view, I don't know how well HVW would do. My friend and I visited HVW shortly after visiting some stellar wineries in the area. We stopped by HVW because of the reviews and we had enough time to visit "one more". The venue is absolutely incredibly however, that is the best thing about this place. Our service was good, at best. There seem to be alot of locals that go here and are "members" that allows free drinks monthly and it offers a great environment for relaxing.

The wine was good but sub par to some of the other area wineries. HVW had a unique white pinot noir which was interesting to sample but I would buy a bottle. The other wines were average however, did I mention the view?

One of my favorites!

This is one of my favorite wineries in Oregon. I started coming up to Hawk's View last summer and couldn't wait to go back. I have since become a member and enjoy each and every visit. I have invited many friends, who have also become members, and all of us are frequent visitors. Great vibe, friendly staff and delicious wine.

White Pinot + View of Mt. Hood
Oct 2018 • Couples
My wife and I did the wine flight and cheese board, two types of cheeses, hazelnuts, and crackers plus berries. Their tasting room + outdoor area was quite a bit larger than other wineries i had been too in the area. We noticed people had larger groups as well as a good place for families to bring young kids on a nice day as they can play in the grassy area. Several picnic tables and multiple pairs of adirondack chairs to sit in on the law and overlook mount hood. We were there closer to 5:30 pm and they could have been busier b/c they don't close until 7 pm, where others close at 4 or 5.

They had a white Pinot Noir that was delicious and other wineries we toured didn't offer that on their flight.

Very Nice Experience
Oct 2018 • Couples
We visited for a bit on a Saturday as part of an anniversary getaway weekend. We found the service to be good, and we liked most of the wines we tasted within the flight. Although not giant Pinot fans, we bought a bottle of the Oregon Cellars. Very tasty! They have a beautiful building and outdoor area. I almost can’t imagine a more relaxing, lovely place to enjoy a glass of wine and some snacks. Definitely worth the trip!
