About
Founded in 1970, Ponzi Vineyards is one of Oregon's oldest wineries. Thriving under the second generation, the winery produces world class Pinot noir, Pinot gris and Chardonnay. Visit the modern tasting room, with breathtaking views of the vineyard and valley. Sip a flight of new release wines fireside or on the covered terrace. Enjoy bocce ball courts and seasonal small plates. Reservations are highly encouraged but we are happy to accommodate walk-ins when space allows.

Very nice place, but high tasting fees and a $20 fee too SPLIT a taste! Bad!
Great location, amazing building and grounds, good wine. Good service. BUT, this is the one and only place, after wine tasting in 100's of locations around the world for the past 40 years, including numerous in California and Oregon, that charges $20 to SPLIT the tasting! We did not want another glass, we did not want larger pours, we only wanted one pour, which we both sipped from. We were going to maybe 4-5 wineries that day and two pours is too much with driving around! They did wave the fee after much protest, but really, $20 to split the taste! Really bad! Get it together Ponzi and change this ridiculous rule you have! If not for that, would easily get a 4 or 5 rating, but not with that offensive fee.

    Good views and wine
Ponzi has a beautiful tasting room celebrating wine and their history in the Willamette Valley. Be wary of patio seating in the late afternoon as the sun can gobble the shade quickly. Solid wines and a good view of their vineyards.

Great pinot noir here, and that is all I know.
People go to wineries for various reasons. I go to find wines I can't find in stores, learn about them, taste them, and sometimes buy them. These people make spectacular pinot noir, and I've been buying their wine (when I can find it in shops) for 40 years. Come here and taste the least expensive pinot noir they sell. That's what I did today, and I bought 13 bottles, with which I am very pleased. I can't comment on tours, &c. I took one tour at Mondavi in Napa in 1998, and learned as much as I wish to learn about how wine is made (an excellent tour, by the way). I must admit I also did some reading.

Fantastic experience! Did the lunch pairing and the food was great and paired very well with the wine. The experience felt personal and private and although we weren’t members we never felt less than. The som seemed knowledgeable and stayed professional throughout. Any additional wines that weren’t included in our tasting that we wanted to try, she made happen. If visiting the area if definitely give Ponzi a go.

Beautiful property and tasting room/area. On hilltop with amazing views. They have plenty of seats outside so you can enjoy the views. Their wine is really good as well, with their rose and pinot noir just amazing. They have some light food as well. If you plan on visiting the valley vineyards def put this top of your list as the property is amazing, staff is super nice, and their wine is great.
I recommend making a reservation but it could be possible they accept walk in - though i wouldn't want to risk not being able to spend a couple hours here.

Beautiful and great wine! Took east coast friends and they loved it. We had to convince them to dress down as PNW is casual. Of course as we get out of our car , a Porsche , a Volvo and Mercedes’ pulled up and deposited some very swanky, dressed up folks. We had a good laugh as they where there for a private event and we could enjoy ourselves on the patio. Staff is excellent! We felt welcome and unrushed.

Ponzi vineyard and winery is one of the top-rated wineries. It was one of the first ones in the area and has top notch wines. Their prices reflect that so if you are looking for higher end very good wines this is a good place. Martin provided our tasting experience and not only described the wines but what the origins and vineyards that they came from but also the process of the fermentation and production. We really liked the Laurelwood Pino Noir and bought a bottle to enjoy in the evening. They have both inside and outside seating with a fantastic view of the vineyard. They also have Bocce ball courts. They do require reservations so make them early.

Ponzi is a very highly rated vineyard to visit for very obvious reasons. It is a beautiful location with stunning views and a delicious variety of wine. The tasting room has indoor and outdoor seating options, a bocce ball court if that’s your thing, and friendly staff.

My husband and I visited on a Friday afternoon with a reservation made using their handy online system. Highly recommend a reservation. The location is about 20 minutes from Newberg, nestled in the hills. Umbrellas kept the sun off of us and we were glad that the weather was cooperative. Not too hot, and a beautiful clear day.

We both opted for the basic wine tasting, which was $30 per person. We enjoyed the wine while we were there, but nothing stands out looking back a few days later. The cheese board ($40) was quite good however. The Brie was mild, the grapes were avoided (def grocery store grapes…at a winery…go figure), but the cured meats, candied hazelnuts, and especially the sheep’s milk cheese with honey were good. We honestly have talked more about the cheese/honey combo more than the wine. It was a spendy cheese board, but tasty.

If your schedule and their schedule match up, Ponzi is a nice place to visit. For the view. And the sheep’s milk cheese with honey on it. Maybe go for a glass of wine over a tasting. Cheers.
