Beautiful location and great ambiance. Visitors are REQUIRED to show proof of vaccination. The white wines are delicious.

Great Wine and Tasting Area
Sep 2021
Ponzi vineyard and winery is one of the top-rated wineries. It was one of the first ones in the area and has top notch wines. Their prices reflect that so if you are looking for higher end very good wines this is a good place. Martin provided our tasting experience and not only described the wines but what the origins and vineyards that they came from but also the process of the fermentation and production. We really liked the Laurelwood Pino Noir and bought a bottle to enjoy in the evening. They have both inside and outside seating with a fantastic view of the vineyard. They also have Bocce ball courts. They do require reservations so make them early.

Great view, drinkable wine.

Ponzi is a very highly rated vineyard to visit for very obvious reasons. It is a beautiful location with stunning views and a delicious variety of wine. The tasting room has indoor and outdoor seating options, a bocce ball court if that’s your thing, and friendly staff.

My husband and I visited on a Friday afternoon with a reservation made using their handy online system. Highly recommend a reservation. The location is about 20 minutes from Newberg, nestled in the hills. Umbrellas kept the sun off of us and we were glad that the weather was cooperative. Not too hot, and a beautiful clear day.

We both opted for the basic wine tasting, which was $30 per person. We enjoyed the wine while we were there, but nothing stands out looking back a few days later. The cheese board ($40) was quite good however. The Brie was mild, the grapes were avoided (def grocery store grapes…at a winery…go figure), but the cured meats, candied hazelnuts, and especially the sheep’s milk cheese with honey were good. We honestly have talked more about the cheese/honey combo more than the wine. It was a spendy cheese board, but tasty.

If your schedule and their schedule match up, Ponzi is a nice place to visit. For the view. And the sheep’s milk cheese with honey on it. Maybe go for a glass of wine over a tasting. Cheers.

Mixed review
May 2021 • Couples
Mixed review of this winery. On the plus side, the views were beautiful and the tasting room was great. With Covid19 protocols in place, we were able to walk around inside without masks as we had our vaccination cards. We observed the cleaning protocols and were very reassuring. The wines were lovely. The real drawback was that unlike every winery we have visited in Napa, Sonoma and Oregon, the tasting fee was not waived with purchase of wine. Tasting fees were 30 dollars per person for Laurelwood (25 regular tasting). We had a 28 dollar cheese board and purchased 6 bottles totaling over 300 dollars yet still got charged the tasting fee. Nice once but won’t return because of that.

Amazing setting, indifferent service.

Beautiful setting, great wine, indifferent service. While we were greeted warmly, our server seemed bored and annoyed. He did not share much information about any of the wines we tasted and made no effort to engage or be hospitable.

Relaxing and fun
May 2021
This is a beautiful winery with breathtaking views. A bit expensive: plan on spending $25 for a 4-wine tasting or $30 for 3 of their premier label. They specialize in pinot noir, though I also enjoyed a Chardonnay that was unusual and buttery. They allowed us to dispense with masks if we could show proof of complete vaccination, which I found reasonable, and the staff was masked. All protocols followed. We had a very interactive server with a great personality and a lovely, relaxing afternoon.

Gorgeous tasting room and great wines
Oct 2020 • Couples
We visited in October 2020; we had a reservation, as required. The winery was very diligent about COVID-19 protocols, including masks and distancing, which we appreciated.

The setting is gorgeous. The property itself has show-stopping views and the tasting room maximizes the views and is a gorgeous structure with a modern vibe. We sat on one of the patios and soaked it all in.

We had one white flight and one red flight. The gentleman assisting us with our tastings was very friendly and talked the right amount about the wines; he was great about answering questions.

We enjoyed both flights. The white flight was a treat, because Ponzi does white wines other than Chardonnay; we particularly liked the Pinot blanc and Pinot gris. The expressions of Chardonnay were also very nice; one featured more oak than the other.

The red flight was also nice; it featured a variety of Pinot noirs drawn from around the property, which made for interesting tastings. In general, we preferred Ponzi’s whites compared to its red, preferring the Pinot noir from some other places we tasted. But that’s all a matter of personal preference; the wines were high quality overall and the tasting experience a highlight of our visit. Highly recommended, for both the views and the wines!

Great pinots and whites too
Aug 2020 • Couples
We went here for my wife’s birthday. It was her third visit and my second one. Reservations at $20 per person were required and you had to wear masks except while participating in the tasting sessions. There is a nice tasting area with rustic wood furnishings and a partial view of the vineyard. We sampled numerous nice Pinot noirs and some good whites including rieslings and Sauvignon Blancs. Hospitality was excellent and the wine was very good also. Recommended and well worth another visit!

Beautiful venue but really negative interpersonal experience with personnel. They were incredibly stand-offish and didn't tell us anything about the wines we were tasting. I feel it is a big business place with a big name and little care about selling their wines.

So Great - We're Getting Married at Ponzi
Nov 2019
We visited to have a tasting and shop for a wedding venue. The wines were great. We liked their pinot noir and pinot blanc. The tasting room is large and they have a great patio. Ashley showed us the wedding space with short notice. Everyone was so friendly that we decided to book Ponzi for our wedding in 2021.
