About
One of the pioneer winegrowers of the Eola Hills area planted in 1978. After selling grapes to other producers for a few years the winery was established in 1991-1992. While production has always remained small we produce world class Pinot Noir as evidenced by 3 time Gold Medal recipients from the International Pinot Noir judging: "Mondial du Pinot Noir" held annually in Sierre Switzerland. WE have limited distribution currently in 16 States, Montreal Quebec, and occasional exports to Norway. We also produce limited bottlings of Estate Chardonnay, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris, Tempranillo, Rose of Tempranillo, and an Ice wine made from Gewurztraminer. Cozy eclectic tasting room, picnic areas, fantastic 180 degree panoramic view from Cascade mountains to the beautiful eola hills. Most wines priced from $15 to $35.

Every time we visit we are very pleased. I bring out of state visitors here and they are always impressed. Surprisingly, they have some very affordable options. The staff is very friendly.

We visited Stangeland the day after Thanksgiving, during their holiday house. The lovely woman pouring wine was gracious, and talented, and friendly. I had a great chat with the soft-spoken, long-haired wine maker who is clearly passionate about wine. They have some glorious 2008 vintage still on hand. I cannot say enough good things about the woman pouring wine. She is one of the nicest people we ever encountered on our many wine trips. Bottom line: good people, good wine, good prices=return trip for us.

only did we taste good wines but visited with high school classmate! Owners are friendly and knowledgeable. And, yes, bought wine!

This small welcoming ‘vineyard’ has a Nordic theme. We enjoyed hearing the history and origins of the wines... and appreciated the casual, friendly atmosphere of the tasting centre. There’s a $5.00 tasting fee. We shared the tasting... and the cost.

A 2012 Pinot Gris was enjoyed by everyone present. Apparently it’s on special, if buying a case. With a flight out of Vancouver imminent, we bought just one bottle... .

We had an average experience at tasting. The drive up featured a lovely view but the tasting room is closed off from this and there wasn't outdoor seating available. The tasting associate talked about awards for their pinot but none of these were on the tasting flight. There were MANY wines on the tasting flight for a smaller fee than other vineyards, so that was positive. The tasting room associate didn't know how long the bottles had been open and many had fruit fies in them (It's an understandable thing, but still kind of nasty). BUT he provided some of the best conversation that we've had in OR wine country!

It is apparent to me that your visit occurred during our harvest and fermentation time. Since the tasting is conducted inside the winey, it is almost impossible to eliminate the fruit flies. We do our best to use safe traps and keep the barrels clean to help reduce the population, but fruit flies are a part of winemaking unless you can afford a complete separate tasting room. Our awards from previous vintages are mentioned to customers as a credibility factor that you do not have to own a multi-million dollar winery in order to make world-class wine. Those awards came from the 1998, 1999, 2006 years and other than a handful of bottles in my personal wine library, are not going to be opened for daily wine tasting when none are available for purchase. Other producers routinely tout their critical ratings by the wine publications and critics, which may be form one to six people who review the wine. The Mondial-du-Pinot-Noir has 50 to 70 panelists who judge the wine and three international organizations who sanction this event. The credibility seems indisputable to me. Maybe we should offer our guests tasting options for reserve and single vineyard wines at higher prices if that is ultimately where there interest lies. typically we provide 8 or 9 wines for our $5 tasting fee, & usually 1 or 2 are Reserve or single vineyard quality. One of my favorites we visited during our wine hop. So many varieties!! I'm not a Chardonnay lover but their Chardonnay is great! Staff were lovely and grounds were beautiful!

Went there on impulse. Saw the sign along the road and had to look into why a vineyard had a Norwegian name. Got there, tasted wine and sat a couple of hours with the owner. The wines, not to forget were really good and we bought some bottles.

We stumbled upon this place on our way thru from Silver falls. This a rare find, the winemaker and proprietor was very informative and super friendly. Oh and the wine is the best we have tried in the state.
