This is a decent venue with mediocre wines. Their wood fired pizza is always enjoyable. This visit I had the spinach and artichoke dip which was cheesy and enjoyable. I also had a couple of glasses of Rose which was unremarkable at best. They are worth a visit if you are a local or are nearby.

My sister and I took a wine vacation to Willamette Valley and visited several vineyards. The gem to us was Ankeny. We loved every wine we tasted. We loved the vibe, the live music, the food and the staff. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. We loved it so much we visited twice. We couldn't get enough. Ankeny Vineyard is a MUST if you are visiting the Willamette Valley.

As an Independence resident and frequent visitor to Ankeny, I can't begin to tell you how disappointed I am with the customer service after our experience yesterday afternoon. It's obvious to me that the attention at Ankeny nowadays is more about pizza and superfluous fluff and less about the wine itself.

We stopped by on our way to my in-laws to pick them up a bottle of 09 pino gris. However, the TR associate was rude, inattentive, and ultimately overcharged us for our bottle. She seemed more interested in pizza ovens, French bread, and chatting with her associates. What's more mystifying is how anyone can think that sort of poor attitude is acceptable in the hospitality industry, especially given today's economy.

On past visits, my wife and I have brought family and close friends to Ankeny because we truly enjoyed the wine and quaint atmosphere, but no more. There are far too many options in the Willamette Valley explore. We'll gladly go the extra distance if it means a more pleasant experience.

Nice place. The older lady was very cranky and not inviting at all. When they say a tasting they mean barely a splash of wine (maybe a Tbsp) Other wineries gave considerable more for a taste at the same price

You do have an opportunity to get a pizza if they ordered enough supplies. $15 for a $6 pizza

Go to other wineries before here for a more fun time

So we went to the biggie fancy lush winery, Willamette Valley, and hobnobbed with the social wine and brie crowd, and then we said, what else? Way on down the rural two lane, following the Willamette River, meeting not many cars at all, we arrived at the far less posh, smaller, more intimate Ankeny Vineyard and Winery. And the winery dogs were trotting around, from the pasture to the vines, happy and running, and a troubador with a melodious tone and great guitar fingers, Jim Reed, was singing in the corner of the outdoor verranda, and the Red Velvet wine, a delicious sort of deep rose that you can drink with anything anytime, was popular at almost every table, and the outdoor brick fire oven pizza was tempting every palate. We ended up buying a bottle of chocolate port, the Ankeny Vineyards own superb dessert wine, Ankeny Venyard Chocolate Port. People around us clustered mainly in groups, and they all were pretty much "family," in that this place was no secret to them and they were meeting and drinking again at their favorite place. The owner of the property poured us our first flight and showed us a picture of the newborn baby goat that had come into the world the night before. And there were chickens and you could buy a dozen fresh eggs, too. We will be going back and trying the barbecue pizza. An amazing place to discover.

A fun place to visit. This is a vineyard that has tasting for a modest fee and the fee is refunded if you purchase a bottle for dinner. The menu includes a variety of pizza that is cooked in an open brick oven, salads, and anti-pasta plates. We have enjoyed ourselves on every visit. I believe the food is served only on Fri-Sun.

A friend had told me this was a great place to sit outside (and even take your dog) and drink good wine and eat their home-made pizza. We never got a chance to do either! It was a lovely evening, and even though we got there early, the staff was completely unready and unprepared for the crowd that showed up. The person at the desk wouldn't even let us order a glass of wine, saying the waitress would take care of us. In 45 minutes of waiting, that never happened and we left. On a non-busy night, maybe it would make sense to go back and try again--but it's a long drive to find out if they are so busy that they can't wait on you! Maybe going for wine-tasting before 5 would give you the first attention when they switch to cafe-mode at 5?

Ankeny Vineyard has a sign on the freeway so after so many years we decided to take the road to Ankeny. Really good wine and personable vintner.

My husband and I visited recently and had a wonderful experience. The wines were wonderful and the staff was friendly and helpful. We sat outside and enjoyed their wood fired pizza and a full tasting flight on the deck. Afterwards we took a stroll through the vines and from the top of the hill were able to see out over the rolling vineyard all the way to the coastal range. Despite being a busy holiday weekend we were very well attended to by the friendly staff, hope to return again soon. Willamette Valley has over 700 vineyards and is about 150 miles long but its tasting rooms like these that have an intimate feel and excellent wines that keep bringing us back time and time again.

My wife and I came here with a Groupon on a rainy Saturday afternoon. At first we were the first ones there, but by the time we left, there were about a dozen people.

I will say the wine was OK and the pizza was good. The one star rating? That is for the service, wow.

We were greeted by the guy who we later overheard saying he was the GM and his dog. He put his dog in a back room and though it kept trying to get out, he seemingly rudely kept pushing it back in there.

We had a Groupon as mentioned and that seemed to annoy him. It offered a pizza with our wine and even though he let us pay the extra $3 for GF crust, he was adamant that he could not and would not let us pay extra for more toppings...

At first when we got there I made a joke about how "busy" they were to which he replied that ya people always make that joke and it's not funny...

When it came to the wine tastings, he poured and said little to nothing about any of them. He forgot a Pinot and when I made a joke about the Moscato (honestly a bad dad joke referring it to a cat) he literally did not laugh and said I hate you to me... Like my wife and I laughed...but he didn't.

As more people got there, it got worse. He seemingly could not handle us and my wife and I gave up and just took our wine and sat at the table. In interacting with a group of ladies in their 60s, he argued with them over them bringing in homemade chocolates and would not let them eat them, talked about how he smokes weed (to which they had no reply) and begrudgingly turned on the music and heat for them.

Of note is as I said this guy said he was the GM and had been there for years. His actions may have at least been understandable had he been new, but it sounds like not only was he not new, but he was high up.

Then another couple came in and had a Groupon, and they had the print out, but not a bar code. Instead of trying to be helpful, he basically kept saying this is no good and told them to get the app. It took them like 10 minutes to finally do so and he would not even serve them anything in the mean time.

I myself worked in food service for nearly 10 years and have been all over to countless places and this is likely the worst service I can remember ever receiving in my life. Rude, inattentive, unwelcoming and laughable at best.

The food nor the wine here was not enough to help us ever consider coming back and I am sure we were not the only ones that felt that way that day.
