Lovely and little

Camping is not private; lots of open spaces. The park, however, is on the shores of the reservoir and a pleasant, but brief walk circles the campsite.

Great Park and great place for lunch
May 2017 • Business
I was on a time schedule and needed to eat a quick lunch in Prineville on the way to Sunriver. Fast food was the quick lunch but it was my choice where to eat it and this seemed perfect. In fact there were others there doing the same thing. The view of the the town and surrounding valley was fantastic. In addition, it was so easy and quick to get there, my meal was still hot.

After eating, I did take a few minutes to walk around the park and check out the plants and animals. So many of the grassland plants were in bloom. They were beautiful. In addition there were several chipmonks and ground squirrels, including one who was not scared at all.

Overall, great park that is easy to access and allows you to spend as much or as little as you can. I think it should be higher on the list and if you are in the area, make time to stop by. You will not be disappointed.

Great overview of the city
Dec 2015 • Friends
If you are new to town or an old timer to the city, the view is great. You are at the top of the hill looking down on the hole city. I bring visitors there to get a great "birds eye view" of the city. You can see everything from there, from the golf corse to the new hospital. Coming down from the high desert you see the oasis that Prineville is. I just visited their to see all the Christmas lights. Day or night it is the best view of the town.

Not really a park ... more of a viewpoint.
Jul 2015 • Couples
This 'park' is up on a bluff, overlooking the town of Prineville and looking towards the Ochoco mountain range. No facilities up here except for some trash cans and a small picnic area. The views are really nice on a clear day.
Facing east, it is best for view pictures in the afternoon, early evening, or night time to catch the town lights.
The most you need to spend here is 15 minutes or so. A nice place to stop and stretch your legs while admiring the view.

Excellent view

This park was wonderfully located high up ontop a bluff with a beautiful panaramic view. Great parking. There's even a geocache within 9 feet of parking.

Great Stop On Your Way Into Prineville
Sep 2015 • Couples
We always zip up the short road to this viewpoint when we're going to Prineville just because it has such a nice view of the town and surrounding area. It's fun to get the lay of the land and see what's changed since our last visit.

Great Viewpoint
Jul 2013 • Friends
Although it is called a wayside park, there are no amenities except a small shelter without a picnic table. No toilet facilities either. But it does offer some great views of Prineville and Meadow Lakes Golf Course. A short hiking trail leads to several geocache hides, but be watchful for snakes in the summer.
