About
The Tram is a popular destination for tourists, locals and people just looking to try something fun. The lower tram terminal is at the intersection of SW Moody Avenue & Gibbs Street --the most transportation-diverse intersection in the country. In addition to one of the nation's only aerial commuter trams, you'll see cars, buses, a streetcar, a soaring pedestrian bridge, a cycle track and the densest bike parking in America's #1 biking city. Bike valet is offered free to the public at Portland Aerial Tram Monday through Friday. Exiting the upper terminal you'll see the largest enclosed sky bridge in North America. Take a right to access an outdoor patio with seating and views of the terminal, the cityscape, the Willamette River and, on a clear day, Mount Hood and Mount St Helens. The upper terminal links to the 4T Trail--a self-guided tour by train, trail, tram and trolley. Much of Marquam Hill is a natural area with several trails.

Fantastic and Important

Not only is this free if you are at OHSU, but the views are fantastic. I cannot imagine what the trek up and down the hill between the hospital locations were prior to the tram. This is simply the best. If you or a loved one is there for medical services, the tram is a great way to clear your head and remember that there is beauty outside of those walls as well.

Take the time and go for a ride.

I lived in Portland when this tram went in but it took until I moved away and came back for a visit before I actually went on it as a tourist. This was a great quick trip up the hill to OHSU. The ride provides great views of the Willamette River and all the bridges. Also a wonderful view of MT. Hood and eastside of Portland. Since I went right before Covid not sure about the protocols in place to ride the tram now.

Good view

This aerial tram is used mostly for staff and patients at OHSU. It’s an opportunity to get a good view but it’s a very short ride and you can get the same or an even better view from one of the many bridges in town without having to pay for parking and a ticket to ride.

What a privilege *eyeroll*

How is it that it’s operated by the city and they don’t take hop? I needed to get to the hospital and I only have hop on me. I had to walk with a blown out knee up a big hill to get there! I needed emergency care for a different issue!! So it’s a privilege to go to the hospital?! WTF?!?!?!

We did the sunrise tour with the donuts and we loved the tram so much! What a great tourist attraction (combined with a pretty way to get to work)! We were glad to be shown the cool observation deck, it should be on every tourist's list!

Fun Experience and Views
Jan 2020 • Couples
This is an inexpensive yet fun activity that only takes a few minutes to go up and then back down the tram. There is a charge on the way up and it is free on the way back down. The tram itself connects parts of the OHSU campus so unless you have business to do at the hospital there isn't alot to walk around at the top. At the bottom there are some trails by the river but it isn't really a tourist spot. However, just the ride itself gives a great view over the city and was a fun excursion. I would suggest it for families with kids as well as anyone who is in the neighborhood.

Short aerial tram ride for a great view
Sep 2019
It is only a short aerial tram ride, but the views from the top over the city & rivers is well worth seeing.

Tram takes you from river level up the hill to amazing views of the city, river, Mt Hood, Mt St Helens. If it is a clear day it is just beautiful.

Short

I'm not sure it's worth the wait for the short ride these tram seem to provide. Yeah, there's some good views from there and the experience is rather unique if you haven't done it before. However, this is really just a commuter vehicle for folks that work in the hospital and the doctors offices below. Unless you're incredibly bored, just avoid this place there's better things to do

Just a little fun thing to do. Short with great views. A nice veranda to overlock at the hospital. When you come back down take the street car NS line back into town
