Family-friendly improv comedy. Like Whose Line Is It Anyway for all ages. Hilariously funny every time and a great night for dates, parties or any event.

Clean fun...not my jam but could be yours!
Aug 2019
My husband and I stopped here on a Friday night for some Improv fun. I have been to Improv comedy clubs before but this one was slightly different. The improv show was family-friendly, which to be honest was a little harder to enjoy. If you know me, you would understand. The audience consisted of the elderly (there was a senior pick up bus available afterward) and a few children. Of course, you have about 25% of just adults.

Overall, the cast could be funny and I did enjoy some of the show. There is snack foods, soft drinks, beer and cider available. I enjoyed a few ciders while at the show.

You can pre-purchase tickets or buy at the door. We had opted to buy at the door and there was room for us in the bleacher (back room seats). Everyone was super nice here but as I said, it was not for me.

So much talent!
Mar 2017 • Family
My friend takes improv classes here and her group was performing Saturday night after the main Comedy Sportz group. All of it was good, my kids and I laughed a ton. What most impressed me was the "Note Takers" portion that my friend was in. The spontaneously had to make up a fairy-tale musical with songs and everything! The owner played keyboard and these groups actually made up songs and it was SO GOOD! I love that it's good, clean, family fun and my friend Brook did GREAT!

Must See! Good, clean and HILARIOUS family fun!

We've been coming to comedysportz events for years, starting with the Puppets vs. People special occasion shows and attending their year round comedy shows. It is not a comedy club. It is an improv show where audience suggestions are incorporated into the show, very much like the tv show, Who's Line is it Anyway? Subsequently, each show varies because the audience is different and because the improv guys and gals are different. The improv group is divided into a blue and red team and there is also a referee. Suggestions by audience are asked for during chosen games and the audience gets to vote for the funniest team with their "whapners". I like that it is a show for everybody, meaning good, clean comedy - something you can bring the whole family too. Although, I do believe they offer some "after dark 18+shows" as well. Attended last night's show and my favorite segments were "Try that on for Size", "Dating Show" And "Five Things". The iimprov people have lots of different games so each show is different - but always funny. These guys and gals are so talented!

Funny and clean
Feb 2016 • Friends
We really enjoyed the comedy experience. The improv was very good and it was nice to enjoy 100% 'clean' humor - family appropriate. The skill of the comedians and the constant interaction with the audience made this a very good event. The decor is no frills - which tells you how good they are to be doing this for 20 years in this location - and the room seats maybe 75 people. The show length was just right at 1.5 hours and you could stick around for additional free Shakespeare If you wanted. A nice change from all the raunchy comedy out there today!

Glad we went

ComedySportz seemed a more local than tourist activity in Portland. It's in a small theatre and was performed by what I would describe as amateur improv actors. Some of the performers were more amateur than others, and some were absolutely hilarious. All in all, a fun activity for a family with four kids ages 7 to 17.

We have been three times, taking friends and family from out of the area, ranging in ages 30 to 84. Just a fun evening of non stop laughter.Totally family friendly, kids are welcome. The building is small, maybe 150 people can fit in ...funky, and in the winter a coat may be good idea. Located near 23rd by several restaurants ,we like Cafe Nell, they share a parking lot.

This is team improv, two teams of four local people, and a referee. Slap stick, quick, silly, with off the wall props etc.Total audience participation, come with fun vocabulary to suggest to the teams to act out, audience gets to vote if you buy a fly swatter, buy two , its fun to vote. Serve pop etc, no booze. Price is Cheap $12, and they take reservations . After the show they have a $5 show where they try out new things and it isn't for kids. Go, you will enjoy and want to go back.

Loved it!

Our boys, 11 & 12, love the comedy sportz clubs so we were not disappointed in the show we saw while in Portland. Both boys even got to participate in one of the skits. We had great fun!

Great clean fun!

I took my son and friends for the afternoon show for his birthday when he turned 11 and laughed so hard I cried! We went again last night and had a great time. There is no problem with parking. We used the lot one building away both times. It is mentioned on their website but the other reviewers must not have known about it. We also appreciate that the snacks are very reasonable as compared to every other entertainment establishment that I can think of.

Not funny
Very amateurish; not worth the cost. I don't have much experience with improv, but if this is what it is supposed to be like it is silly but not funny.
