A Very Nice Pub for a pint or two
Apr 2017
I had never been here before and had been walking up and down Klickitat to get a feel for the street and figure out the Bevery Clearly connection after haing seen the Scultures in Grant Park. After my long walk on Klickitat I had build up a thirst. I walked to Freemount and the sign for McPeet's caught my eye as the best place to go to for a drink. I got to the door and saw the artwork and know that this was a great spot to check out for fore. I entered and went up to the bar and asked the brunette barmaide what they had in dark beer. She said "Melvins Porter" so that is what I ordered. I placed a fin on the counter to cover for the pint... when the tap sputter out before glass was half full. The barmaid said "I can't charge you for this, here have it as a sample." So I drank it. Liked it. And watched her set up a new beer to the tap. I asked, "What's this one?" She looked up and said "Founders Porter." I said "Fine that I shall have a pint of that when you have it ready." She smiled and so did I. When I took a sip of the Founders Porter I found that I liked this much better than the Melvins Scenereo Robust Porter. I took my pint and walked to the five video Poker Machine in the back corner. I looked up in the corner and saw a small Hamm's Beer figure over a doorway to the restrooms. McPetes has a nice cozy feel to it. two TV screen over the bar to the left and right. Seversal neon beer signs. A picture of a nude woman laying sideways over the bar that reminded me what you'd see in an old wild west bar in western movies. There were brown booths and tables along the west wall. Was a great place to stop and relax and sample a few dark beers. I will have to stop in here again the next time I am in the area.
