The Kennedy School hosted a J R R Tolkien birthday bash. Located in an old school it has six bars, a theater, a large hot soaking pool, hotel, gift shop and a restaurant. The micro beers are great, the food was themed for the even and spot on perfect.

Excellent place to unwind and relax. The food is always above par and the soaking pool is divine. Love to be able to wander and explore with drink in hand, and wake up to some of the best coffee around. If not having a bathroom in your room is bothersome, these are not your style. If you can live with... More

Just visiting daughter in Portland who had been to the Kennedy School before. We only had a little time, but were able, with the help of an employee see one of the converted school rooms that was now a bedroom. Chalkboards, tall windows, coat closets. Brought back wonderful memories. Most of the time all the rooms are full but we... More

Thank you for writing a trip advisor review. We are glad you had the opportunity to get a little tour. For many of us who work here, having the opportunity to show off the school to out of town visitors is the highlight of what we do. We do hope to see you again soon. Cheers! You will not be disappointed. There are bars, pubs, brewery, restraunts all at the Kennedy school. Nice pool where they allow cocktails in plastic cups. You can wonder around and see all kinds of interesting things inside and out. The bailer room pub is wonderful, pool for five bucks a hour. There are prt friendly rooms. The rooms are large... More

Converted Neighborhood Elementary School in garden like setting that offers clean, quality and unusual accommodations. Relaxed in the wading pool - complete with water jets- upon arrival. Enjoyed McMenamins brew from on site brewery and wine from the same source. Menu is not extensive but broad enough to satisfy most sophisticated tastes. Outdoor fireplaces and gas heaters provide enough warmth... More

Thank you for writing a trip advisor review! We are thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your stay. We just opened a fun new hotel in Bothell, WA just a few minutes drive north of Seattle called the Anderson School. Each one of the McMenamins restaurants is unique in it's own way. The history of the places that these amazing brothers protect is mind boggling. The Kennedy School is no exception. The meeting rooms and offices are the original classrooms from the school, The Boiler Room is a bar that also serves food. There are pictures of the original school... More

This place is awesome. It’s an old elementary school that has been repurposed into a Movie Theater, Restaurant, Bar (multiple bars actually) and hotel (certain rooms have the school's original chalkboards and cloakrooms, others have literature-inspired themes). And the theater is big, with numerous, comfy couches and recliners filling each row. They usually play first run movies and old favorites... More

A great visit--seeing new uses for this 99-year-old schoolhouse. There are meeting rooms, bars, a movie theater--even a brewery in the original boiler room--not to forget the restaurant. Photos and murals showing Kennedy School's beginning abound.
