Every time I passed this park, I thought of Paris. Turns out it was designed by Olmsted architects who modeled it on the Luxembourg Gardens. We moved to this neighborhood, largely because of this park. It's a great gathering spot for a variety of people and events, and I just love it. I make it a point to walk through it every day.

Visit this garden rose before going to the International Rose Garden. It is smaller but just as beautiful with a large fountain in the middle. It's located in a residential area, so drive around and admire the beautiful house architecture and landscapes.

Almost every one of these reviews is for THE Rose Garden in Washington Park. Even the photo at top is for that park. But this is a listing for the entirely different Peninsula Park & Rose Garden in North Portland. It's a very nice park, and the roses here are bountiful, but don't go here expecting spectacular (or any!) city views or gift shop, etc.

A gem of Portland! If you're a tourist try to make it over to this garden if you're visiting during the summer months when the roses are blooming (June-August). It's one of the most beautiful gardens. A bit far from the city center, but it's an easy bus or lyft ride. Plentiful parking in the neighborhood streets. Nice place to sit, relax, read a book, or just wander among the roses.

This is a view of the city not to be missed. No need for a guide, just park the car and venture up and around. This is a great place to have brought a camera and a small picnic or a blanket and book.

Built on a French design, this rose garden is different than Washington Park Rose Test Garden.
Lovely brickwork, and beautiful center fountain.

I grew up in this park enjoying jam sessions, skating, swimming, drill team, basketball, softball with my Jefferson High School, and just hanging out with other teens. Today its still the same. The beautiful smell and sights of roses. The water fountain you can sit near on a bench or blanket. Watching weddings in the garden. A kiss under the shady trees that are organized in corners of the lane. Tennis courts, children on the playground that has been updated since I was a child, and dogs playing on the grassy field.Awesome small neighborhood park.

This is one of the must stop spots in Portland, OR. Great view and beautiful gardens. Even when the roses are not in full bloom it is lovely.

A beautiful place to see and feel the beauty of nature, and gaze upon rows of roses extend up and down around a lovely magical fountain. It feels like you are in a different magical place when you're here. Something special happens when you make a wish at the fountain...at least it seems something special happens. Highly recommended for an afternoon picnic with loved ones.

The roses are growing and the trees blooming. The fountain is relaxing and stimulating at the same time. Great place to eat a picnic, play with your dog or write in your journal. Soak in history and the beauty of nature. Worth the trip to visit this quiet and lovely park in the city. Close to some great restaurants and shops.

are there many roses blooming in early september?

Probably yes. It’s late in the season but Oregon is beautiful and the Rose garden is a cool place to hang for a while on a nice summer day.

is anything blooming now (late February)? when do the roses bloom?

Soon there will be rhododendrons, but the lovely roses should be at their best in May, June, and July depending on how hot summer will be. I was there in Sept and there were still pretty roses, but I think June is best to coincide with Portland's Rose Festival.
