I can only speak to the university as one who attended the 2019 North American Taiko Converence. It was hosted here and they provided great classrooms and a spacious auditorium for conducting numerous workshops. I noted that the campus was maintained well and with lots of trees along the park blocks leading to the university it made the conference and our stay very pleasant. I am glad that these facilities were available for our use.

As an urban campus this is average. They have not average things like the Saturday farmers market or the food carts on 4th. But that is independent from the University. Went to three urban universities in other states and the parking and transportation was better, but not the area restaurants or the safety in the area. Those are out standing. They do have a movie theater were they play classics, but I thought the actual building was off campus. Good for a student nice assortment of science, language, psychology and literature classes. Some good master's programs like engineering.

If you ever happen to be visiting this institution in April, don’t miss their yearly student Opera production. It takes place in the newly renovated Lincoln Hall theater, a very comfortable and acoustically marvelous venue. The shows are an unbelievable bargain at twenty-five dollars per ticket, delivering professional quality productions at a ridiculously low cost. Don’t miss them.

A lot of the staff and professors that work and teach here are trying to indoctrinate instead of educate. They don't like freedom of speech or anyone who disagrees with them. If you disagree or have a different opinion they will automatically label you a racist, sexist, bigot, etc. The "woke" culture here is extremely toxic and can even turn violent in some situations. This place isn't a university, it's an echo chamber.

This is my school and I love it. We have the best campus right in the city. Excellent Criminology and Criminal Justice program.

This area is constantly on the news for sexual assault crimes. I would not want my daughters going to this school because I wouldn't think they were safe.

PSU has a lovely campus, but in terms of attractions it doesn't merit a visit. It's not particularly old and the buildings aren't particularly amazing, nor is there much if anything to do if you're not a student. PSU's large university sprawls out across some good and bad restaurants and not much else. Traffic is a nightmare during school hours, and parking is difficult to impossible with rigid and regular parking enforcement. Instead, hop on the free streetcar and walk the Park Blocks, stroll the waterfront, or head to the Pearl district and you'll have much more fun less than five minutes away.

I spent time attending Portland State college. The tree lined central campus was always very special, during all the seasons, lending the natural world's grace to a city environment. An interesting place to be, with older buildings and newer ones, with a very diverse student body. I studied music and the arts, and enjoyed easy access to other venues, restaurants and vibrant city life while living right on campus. My experience was safe as well. I attended school there years ago, but have no other options for dates that I visited, except for the ones trip adviser allows. I have visited recently though and found it much as it was earlier in my life.

PSU is an integrated part of Portland. It's difficult to be downtown and not be on their campus. Lots of things going on, very involved in community life.....and ideal of what an urban campus can be. Our son did his undergrad here, our professional lives have been spent on campuses all over the country.....this is a very good place and you should make a point to visit if you are in Portland.....it's somewhat unique in that respect.

Frequently departments such as Asian Studies and Middle Eastern Studies provide weekly performances, lectures and other cultural events, so besides being the number one destination for Portland students who don't want to move away from town and don't have the resources to go elsewhere, this school offers accessible events throughout the year. Easy to get on their listservs to get e-mails. The park blocks lead almost seamlessly up to PSU, so if you're at the art museum or the Oregon history museum, just keep walking up hill to PSU under the gorgeous trees, particularly nice in fall and summer when it gets hot. A transportation hub as well, you can catch MAX, bus lines and the streetcars to get to other parts of Portland. With public bathrooms at a premium, I frequently duck into PSU when nature calls, and the school also supports a good many food carts. For example, there is a long time middle eastern food cart that makes a delicious Falafel sandwich. If you want to go to PCC Sylvania, there's a free shuttle that runs from PSU Monday through Friday.
