Great place to go birding during migration seasons in the Fall and Spring. Many good spots to see birds. You need to get a wildlife permit at a local store. And watch out for bike fanatics, they love the level roads.

Drive to the north end of Sauvie Island and you can walk on the beach to the lighthouse. It's called Warrior Rock Lighthouse, 6 miles out and back. Great for running and or with kids, no elevation.

You might want to wear your ear plugs if you're heading this way during the migration season. There are so many birds taking off, landing and just hanging out and feeding. The cacophony they produce is astounding. You will love it.

Lovely, quick getaway to the country right in the heart of the city. Great place to view birds and to take hikes in flat terrain.

Blue Herons, swallows, beaches, farms...what's not to love about this place? Hard to believe it is so close to the city and offers such a rural experience. The river is awesome!
