Several miles outside downtown Portland, this rural island is in the Columbia River and has extensive farm lands and venues! Concerts and farm stands. And parklands with sand beaches--extremely popular during the summer.

Escaped the city to check out this island. Not too far, but definitely easier with your own car. Nice flat island along the columbia river, providing a great loop for bikers, and a nice stretch of sandy beach.

Since we rode this route during the week, the roads were pretty quiet. Though the roads are a bit rough in spots, it was peaceful and lovely!
