A Rare Opportunity
Dec 2014 • Couples
Imagine a troupe of talented actors performing Shakespeare in your living room.

That is the experience of watching a performance of the Northwest Classical Theater at the Shoebox Theater. The space is perhaps 30% larger than our own modest living room. Seats ring three sides of the theater. On only one side are there two rows.

Recently we watched a performance of The Maid's Tragedy (1619), directed by Barry Kyle, Honorary Associate Director of the Royal Shakespeare Company, England. (This is a measure of the type of people this small Portland, Oregon troupe draws.) It was challenging but enthralling.

So, if you enjoy theater, and you would like the chance to sit next to a raging Lear rather than just watching from a distance, give this a try.
