We went on the Sicily tour with Heidi in October. It was absolutely outstanding. She takes all the work out of it, and all you have to do is show up and be pampered. Delicious food, wine, and the most amazing sites and towns your destination has to offer. We went to ruins, a pistachio farm, wineries, and stayed in beautiful accommodations. One of the resorts even had a private pool in the room. This is the third tour we have gone on with Heidi and I cannot recommend her highly enough.

We recently returned from a fabulous trip with Forktown Food Tours to the island of Sicily. Walking tours of the towns and cities that we visited. Visits to local agriculture, including a pistachio farm, olive oil producer, and salt flats; to name a few. Tour of the Valley of the Temples, well preserved ruins of Greek and Roman temples. All with knowledgeable local guides. Visits, of course, to local wineries and restaurants. The small size of our tour group allowed us to go off the beaten path to places you would never find on your own. Add to that the top notch hotel accommodations made for an unforgettable trip. This is our third trip to Italy with Forktown Tours and we have never been disappointed. If Sicily is on your bucket list this is the tour to sign up for!

Recently returned from a trip to the Amalfi Coast in Italy organized by Heidi. She put together a great itinerary and a top-notch group of guides that led us through the various sights and sound of this wonderful region. No, it wasn't all food but we did sample some tasty treats along the way. Pizza, of course, as well as a sampling of fried seafood on the streets of Naples, dinner at a small winery prepared by the owners, lunch at a Buffalo Mozzarella farm, and a last night Michelin Star restaurant experience. Incredible tour of Pompeii as well Capri and the various town that dot the Amalfi Coast. Heidi was great at making sure that everything ran smoothly.

Had the Downtown Foodie Tour with the owner, Heidi. The tour and the food were both incredible. We went to 4 restaurants and each was delicious. Heidi gave us a tonne of info on the Portland food scene and background on each restaurant, and seemed to know the staff at each place as well. We had a couple dietary restrictions as well and she was very quick and willing to recommend the best tour for us and easily accommodated our restrictions; I never felt like I was getting 2nd rate food just because I didn't eat or drink certain things.
Overall, I would strongly recommend Forktown to anyone wanting to get a variety of Portland food. Amazing experience.

After being on quite a few food tours this was the best ever. Heidi guided our limited group through downtown Portland for a variety of foods and sweets plus some local wine. Along with the food, Heidi gave us a good level of history of the city and area as well as a history of how the food scene has developed in Portland. Then there were the other suggestions for the rest of our time in Portland and she didn’t steer us wrong. The food was all amazing and portions were generous. Lots of hiking after this food tour to get ready for the next meal:)

It’s been about a month since we completed the Forktown Tuscany Food Tour so we’ve had some time to gather our thoughts. Although our primary focus was, of course, the food, it turned out the beautiful visual memories of the countryside we collected as we travelled in our private Mercedes minivan, were at least as special. As expected, our tour leader, Heidi, selected generous and fantastic meals but the venues where we dined were unique and delightful. We ate in a renowned 100+ year butcher shop, in a tiny hilltop town where Amerigo Vespucci was born, at a small winery, a dairy farm, and a family farm, outdoors in Greve’s charming town square, and in a gorgeous private villa. Most all of these venues had sweeping views of Tuscany.
All but 2 lunches and one dinner were included but honestly, we were happy to skip some meals!
In addition to eating, we learned to make pasta, how wine is made, had a private, curated tour of the Accedemia, a walking history tour as well as a walking food tour in old Firenze, visit to several hill towns, and a walking history tour in old Siena. All this in 7 days. Our days were full but our tour leader, Heidi, paced the tour according to our small group’s energy level. We had enough downtime and free time. We were a group of 6 that were well matched and we enjoyed each other’s company. The entire experience was memorable and very worthwhile.
Heidi is an excellent tour organizer and leader. She took care of all details so no worries for us! Plus she was able to answer all our questions, including those related to our travels after her tour. In fact, she made restaurant reservations for us, helped with transportation arrangements.
If you’re interested in seeing much of the beautiful Tuscany landscape, enjoy small hill towns, and eat lots of delicious authentic Italian food in unique settings, all worry free, this tour will be right for you.

Heidi planned an amazing private tour for our girls' trip. Amazing variety of food (shout-out to the handmade pasta and drinking chocolate!). Come hungry because you will not leave hungry...portions were generous. Heidi shared interesting tidbits about the Portland food scene and Portland history and our tour flew by. Definitely a highlight of our trip to Portland.

Heidi touted Division Street as The Hottest neighborhood in Portland! This is the second Forktown tour that I have been on and I couldn’t imagine this being as good if not better than the Downtown tour! It is as good and had even more places that I will return to! I have been on many food tours in cities traveled, and this one by far is the most satisfying. Heidi is personable, knowledgeable with history, culinary arts, and well connected to the business owners that she highlights. On several tours, we were introduced to the business owners who would share their philosophy and passion for foods, and then we sampled generous helpings off their menus. Highlights included a very special European concept at Someday Wine-bar ( with unique vegetarian dishes, best mushroom risotto at Olympian Provisions that specialize in sausages, Indian street food and then to die for Lauretta Jeans. Heidi is well organized, concern with making this a comfortable experience in rain or shine, and she is clearly passionate about food, travel, and will answer all of your questions!

Forktown Food Tour was so much fun! My small group joined about 6 other guests from all over the country on a cloudy Sunday afternoon. Luckily we came hungry because our tour included a huge Thai salad, two incredible tacos, a local burger and fries, chocolate, gourmet salt and ice cream! Not to mention multiple local beverages along the way. Throughout the tour, we were guided by a local, Ahna, who was a wealth of information about Portland history, the food scene and each of the dishes and drinks we enjoyed. I look forward to taking another Forktown Tour soon!

I have celiacs, would gluten free options be available on this tour or would I have to skip eating at some of the stops?
Written August 15, 2016
Hi Stephanie,
Thank you for the inquiry. We can accommodate guests with gluten free menu requests on the Downtown Tour & the Mississippi Avenue tour, and both tours are offered multiple times per week. The other 2 tours we offer aren't appropriate for gluten free guests. You can let us know during the checkout process what allergies/dietary restrictions or requests for non-alcoholic beverages that your party may have.
Thanks again & we look forward to hosting you soon!
