My wife and I had a great evening at the Oregon Zoo in Washington Park. We happened upon the zoo on a summer Twilight Tuesday, when admission is lowered, hours are extended, and the lawn is full of vendors, wine/beer/cider samplings, food-trucks, and a live band. We had a blast wandering through the NW exhibit, walking the length of the... More

The zoo was larger than we expected and it was a little confusing to navigate-even with a map. I did not care for all of the small enclosures and fences. There was a huge variety of animals. You need a whole day to see them all.

This is a lovely zoo. They have a wide variety of animals and when I went I saw all them except the painted dogs. It was a really hot day and I was delighted to find misters to cool off under. If you prefer healthy food you should take a picnic as the food available within the zoo is pizza,... More

Went there with my wife in July and was amazed at the conditions and many exhibits at the Portland zoo. Will return next year with our daughter. Also had lunch and was pleasantly surprised with quality and value for the money

This zoo has done as much as possible to have animals living in natural settings. While nothing can replicate the wild, Oregon Zoo has a lot to see from many parts of the world. Children and adults alike will love the new elephant exhibit, but it's just one of many. Plan at least three or four hours and with children... More

We took the free tram through Washington Park to the Oregon Zoo. We enjoyed the park, loved the elephant exhibit and the bats were amazing. We spent about 3 hours at the zoo and it made for a fun day in Washington park

Located in the very beautiful Washington Park, the Oregon Zoo is a must see for families visiting Portland. The zoo is designed to educate about animals and the environment as well as display animals. The displays are very kid friendly and the habitats for the animals are high quality. We feel the entrance price and the restaurant prices are reasonable... More

Had a day to kill and did it at the zoo. Very easy to get to from either the blue or red line. The zoo is a lot bigger than I was expecting. There are plenty of different animals and several shows going on throughout the day. It was $14.95 to get in which I thought was a great deal.... More

Despite the hype about the new elephant quarters, this zoo is sad. It seems laid out badly and the number of animals is sparse. I was very disappointed.

Be ready to walk! Portland prides itself on the many large enclosures it has for its animal residents. The animals appear well cared for and the zoo is home to a wide variety of species. Definitely worth a visit for kids and animal lovers of all ages!
