We booked the entire boat with HOOK'EM UP Guide Service. From the beginning, Larry was always quick in responding and answering all of my questions. When you're boating with a 97 year old, there were many questions and he was able to answer them all and help us plan for the unknown. Although I dealt with Larry initially, we were going to be going out with his son Colby.
We were told by locals that Colby was really young, but smart. They referred to him as "The Kid!" We went out and noticed right away that there were probably about 100 boats out on the water. Colby was great in giving us the simple lessons we needed to know and made us feel comfortable in his hands. Fishing was very slow in the early morning with no one really seeing any bites for a while. However, what made me respect "The Kid" during this time, was he was constantly trying different things, different areas and calling people he knew to see if they were having any activity. It was clear that he was trying his absolute best to find the fish for us.
When we got our first fish on, he was on the move helping the person with the line while also getting the rest of us to do what needed to be done. We caught 4 large salmon (had to release one due to it being under the limit) and we had a wonderful time. Colby was smart, respectful, fun to hang out with, a hard worker, and a down right good guy. It was clear he was going to do whatever he could to give us a good time and to land some fish. And even after we landed a fish he was quick to get our lines back in the water to try and catch as much as we could. He kept our lines out in the water up to the second we had to head back to shore.
We had a wonderful time and a great experience on our first time Salmon fishing thanks to Colby!! I will definitely send everyone I know that wants to have the best experience in Oregon to HOOK'Em Up with Colby and Larry!!

2 great fun days with the best guide service in Portland OR - one day at the coast with Larry and one day Portland metro with Colby. Larry had us dialed in for Cohos at the coast (with some crabbing too) and Colby had us limits of Chinooks in 2 hours in Portland. Knowledgeable, skilled guides with great boats and equipment who can put you on fish and make you feel at home. Have been coming back for over 10 years and never disappointed!!!

went on a half day trip in 2019 had fun. My second trip in 2020 was amazing. Went sturgeon fishing with my best friend and my dad. From 11 to 4 we released fish. I cant describe it. All three of us had a huge sturgeon on time and time again. Biggest fish was around 7 foot long, Best fishing of my life. I recomend this experienced guide if your looking to catch some big fish!! Very clean comfortable boat. The fishing equipment was top notch. I wont fish in portland with anyone else now.

This is so late but forgot to post a review. Anyways my husband and I had such an amazing time! We caught a Salmon and a few Sturgeon... I caught the biggest one! Not sure how much either weighed but the salmon was amazing and the Sturgeon was massive! We of course let the Sturgeon go! Probably the most fun my husband and I have ever had fishing and we go fishing quite a bit! We loved Larry! He had amazing communication and was so friendly. We plan on going back sometime and using Larry again (hopefully sometime this summer)!

Went salmon fishing off of Hammond Oregon. Had a great time. Colby was very knowledgeable and did his very best to make our experience memorable. He might be young but his experience on the water shows. We ended up catching three huge King Salmon! Would highly recommend him and his Dad. Met his Dad at the dock too! Great guy. He should be proud if his son. He taught him well. Very impressed with Colby.

Went out with Captain Larry sturgeon fishing with my wife and two kids on July 17. Never had such a good time fishing. Larry was very cordial and laid back. Me and my wife are already planning our next trip.

Stop looking for a guide in Portland. This is your guy. I fish a lot. When i pay a guide, I want to catch something. I also have a 12 year old with me. My son was never bored. He was too busy catching 20, 30, 40 lbs fish. We lost count after 30 or so. Check my pics and book a trip. W

Larry is phenomenal - great fisherman, better guy. We were in town for an athletic event near Portland. Larry took us out for sturgeon and did not disappoint. This man knows fishing - and will teach you everything you need to know. He makes beginners feel like pros.

Larry took us out for what will go down in history as the “epic trip of a lifetime”! We each caught a huge spring salmon and our boat limited out in under 4 hours! Larry was amazing and the company, trip, guide and day was a notch above all the rest. I couldn’t wait to refer him to everybody I know and will recommend him to all without reservation. This guy knows what he’s doing...I just felt sorry for the other boats around us!

Kids are good to go on a trip here in Portland. Sometimes shorter 5 hour trips are better for kids. We have all size life vests for all ages
