There are always lots of visitors and locals in the square, and frequently a special event with music or other attractions. Well worth a stop.

A good place to see have an ice cream or coffee and spend some time. Cultural activities showed some times. People doing Japanese exercise and others.

I'm not sure why a square would be rated, but when we visited, it was fenced off for some sort of engineering work. I've been to it before, and didn't find it anything special.

we were able to sit a bit on a low brick wall and watch skateboarders hone their skills. Nice location for a public area.

This truly is centrally located and so many fun places to visit within walking distance. It's also a great place to find a seat and enjoy your lunch on summer day.

There is always something interesting going on here. Once there was a cider festival-every visit to Portland has something going on--surrounded by hotels, shopping (Nordstroms-Macy's, etc) and great restaurants and theaters

The chess board patterns &pawns are attractive for the champions. A fountain in the form of a cascading waterfall; reminds us of all million falls in Oregon. The amphi-theater is used for musical performances or other events. The most recognized public art piece is Seward...More

There is a lot of building work going on in this area at present and from the architectural drawings on display it looks like it will be lovely when it is finished.

At the time we were there, there were just a few carts and I opted for a quick hot dog and fries (which weren't the best), but there was a pulled pork sandwich cart next to it that others got and enjoyed. Not sure if these... More
