With so few real bookstores left, Powell's is a real treasure! Both new & used books are sold. It is large & friendly. There is certainly something for everyone here!

It's one of the not to miss places we read about, and it's as big as they said. Lots of books and a fun place to watch people.

You will go to Powell's right around the time it opens, thinking that you will just browse for a few minutes, maybe look for that one book your cousin recommended, then hit the town for sightseeing. Then you will go into the stacks and you...More

I have been to 52 countries, over 100 cities and have found no other book store coming close to Powell's in variety and knowledge of the staff and you can buy both new and used books.

This place is so big!!! So much fun to see old books in new book side-by-side on the shelves. They must have every book imaginable. Had a great time getting lost in all the files of this converted parking structure!!!

This multi-floor bookstore has practically any book you could be looking for. Unlike big box bookstores, most of its inventory is actually books! Whether you are a voracious reader looking for something new (my wife) or someone who buys one book per year (this reviewer),...More

Definitely a place to wander and explore. Appreciated all the recommendations. Very helpful staff, and, on a hot day, an oasis.

In this day and age of digital media we are suffering the closure of more and more bookshops and this saddens me. As a regular traveller I do admit to owing a kindle but I still love to hold a good book in my hands...More

They have a parking lot! I also usually find parking on the street a couple blocks to the west. And, I often combine Powell's with a stop at Whole Foods, so I park at Whole Foods, go to Powell's, come back to WF and buy what... More
