Let me start out with a disclaimer: I am a Portland native and I am mid-to upper middle class income level. Northwest 23rd Avenue is full of overpriced shops and boutiques that are way out of my price range and just not my style. I remember frequenting NW 23rd back in my early twenties and really enjoying it. Currently there... More

We had a Portland Visitor bureau employee tell us to go to this up and coming area. Wow, it's got lots of wonderful shops and restaurants with more to come. We had the most fun here, try to catch whatever mass transit gets you here to enjoy this area. Wonderful!

An interesting place to drive through to look at the old homes and historical buildings up on Nob Hill. It gives you a feel of Portland. Always interesting.

This area is part of the scenic drive below the park area between hwy 26 and Burnside. NW 23rd shopping area is just north across Burnside as well, salt and straw are on NW 23rd as well as Rams Head and some other great restaurants. Combine this into your drive to, from or between the other attractions like the Pittock... More

Tons of restaurants and shops in walking distance. Best French authentic quiche, croissants etc. all made on sight. Also bite size little versions of your favorites!

Portland has great districts with lots of neighborhood parks. Nob Hill is convenient and has the benefit of great stores and restaurants on 23rd Street. Visitors should rent a bike from the new bike racks all around the area. Good selection outside Fred Meyer's on 21st.

Less big box stores in the area. Older homes turned into retail units. Lots to see and eat. Seems to be more shops on 23rd than 21st.
