Guided Overland Tour

2 reviews
The Overland Tour helps visitors walk in the footsteps of pioneers along the Oregon Trail Experience Interpretive Trail, which features replica animals and landmarks, such as Independence Rock and Laurel Hill. A tour guide will act as the wagon master, guiding visitors through a variety of hands-on activities and entertaining presentations about wagon packing, prairie wildlife, frontier camping and more. During the 1.5-hour tour, the tour guide will share fun facts about the dangers, tasks, and decisions pioneers experienced at jumping off towns, the Great Plains, forts, campsites, forks in the road, and their final destination in Oregon.

The Pinot Noir was the best. Not really a fan of the other reds or Whites. Our friends we were with liked most of the others so just not my taste/style. They also liked the Pinot Noir the best.

It was another rainy vacation day in Oregon after the running the Portland Marathon last weekend so we decided to head east away from Mt Hood. After visiting the Willamette Falls the heavens opened up so we decided to find a winery for some tasting. From reading the descriptions we decided to go to the King's Raven Winery located in Oregon City. When we arrived it was still raining when we entered but within 5 minutes the sun had come out and we could take in the beautiful farm that the tasting room overlooks. The pickers were actual out in the fields picking the grapes as we arrived. The tasting was just $5 and he read off the wines we were going to taste. The first 3 were white wines, a Pinot Gris, a bonus Pinot and Phoenix which is like a Saugvigon Blanc. We then enjoyed 3 reds, a Pinto Noir, Leon Millot and a Maréchal Foch. After that we had a sweet white dessert white which was surprisingly very good, something that would go down well after Thanksgiving Dinner. We bought the Pinot Noir which was on sale at $20 from $25 and because of that our tasting fee was waived which was a pleasant surprise. This is definitely the best value for money tasting with a diverse group of likable wines. David the owner is a very friendly host and we left very happy to have found this place.

We love this local place and wonderful to have such a great place right in our backyard. Enjoyed the wine especially Phoenix on the hot summer day we were there. The views are beautiful.

Overall it was a great start. The staff was very friendly and open to questions. This is a small Vinyard, but what comes out of it is far from. I'm not too keen on dry whites do I'm a bit bias there, but the rest were worth the trip. We plan on going back for a fresh bottle and a picnic over looking the Vinyard. Atmosphere: casual, clean, it's a vinyard... Parking: It doesn't seem like much, but they accommodated a full size truck and 26' trailer. Staff: Friendly, informative and easy to chat with. Wine: Each person in my group took home a different type.
