This is a popular park for both locals and visitors alike. Many of the tourists park in the lot (it has space for about 30 cars) and head down to the beach. The locals tend to sit in their cars, eating lunch, chatting on the phone or just watching the waves.

I've done the latter many times, but this visit I decided to walk around and take note of the sculptures and memorial displays. There is an enclosed gazebo that has benches, but nothing else. One man was inside on the day I was there, just sitting.

Just outside the gazebo is a whale art - well I guess it's "art". There are whale bones grouped together. On the other side of the parking area is a sculpture of . . . something. Perhaps it's a sun-god or maybe just a stylish scarecrow!

Farther down the brick footpath is a display which includes a poem. There is an interesting bronze sculpture here as well. A slab of rock contains the names of those local soldiers who lost their lives in Vietnam. Other rocks had writing on them but I could not read it as it's become weathered.

This area is nicely landscaped and a footpath leads down the hill to the beach.

The views are lovely from here. You can see the jetty to the south, the beach, Nye Beach and Yaquina Head lighthouse to the north.

This is a beautiful place to picnic and watch the waves roll in. Easy access to gorgeous beaches to walk. No shells to find but plenty of driftwood and stones. Many miles of beach to enjoy. The park has a couple of pieces of art and nice restroom facilities.

As we traveled from the Yaquina Bay Lighthouse past the Fisherman's Memorial we stumbled upon this very nice and quiet beach. You can see Yaquina Head in the far distance and a beauiful beach spans the horizon. There is a beach just before the steep path down to the beach where you can just sit and take in the beauty. The parking area is ample for the site and there is a whale bone tribute on the other side of the building. A nice find and a beautiful warm and "sunny" Oregon day. Stop and smell the roses and then continue to the Yaquina Head a few miles north off 101.

If you are into it, grab some local seafood to go, get a nice drink, head over here to hang out and watch the water and sea life. This is a nice place to hang out on a stormy day if your into that, and watch natures power , look at the ocean, and enjoy the sounds of the water and birds.

I've been the wedding officiant since 2002, and have performed over two dozen wedding at Don Davis Park, some on the beach, but most in the small building there. The view is great for photographs and beach access is easy. It's close to beach rental cottages and motels.

A nice spot for a hike and beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean! We walked down part way on the path, but because I have mobility issues unable to go to the bottom! Newport does not have direct, flat walking access to its' beaches.

We stumbled on this one while checking out public art. There were a few pieces there, including parts of a whale skeleton and an interesting native narrative engraved into granite with it. There were a couple of other artworks just across the street at the performing arts center. Worthy of a stop for photos. Not sure how big the part really is, but what we stopped for was interesting.

Stumbled onto this park while exploring the area, like the rest of the area, it was nice and quiet, wonderful little place to visit.

I love to just park in the lot or beside the road and look at the view. You can see the lighthouse and most of the beach. Beautiful views. Easy trail to the beach and right in the middle of town. Love it.
