About
We are a friendly, family owned and operated office offering premium ocean sport fishing charters for Albacore Tuna, Rock Fish, Halibut, and Salmon. Rock Fish trips are available year-round, but Tuna, Halibut, and Salmon keep us very busy from May through September. We do not overcrowd our boats and have a maximum load of 16 fisherman for Rockfish, 12 for Halibut and Salmon, and 10 for Tuna on our two large boats. Private parties are welcome to bring more people. We run two twin 43ft. Deltas, the Crackerjack and Gracie K, and we also have a smaller 37ft. Delta named the Spindrift that can accommodate fewer people. We're located on the south side of the Yaquina Bay Bridge in Newport, Oregon.

My offshore halibut trip was cancelled (and rebooked, thanks Rachel) due to high winds and rough seas, and I was offered a 1/2 day inshore rockfishing trip instead. I grabbed it - needed some fishing therapy after a death in the family last week. The trip was flawless, special thanks to Jack and Tessa the deckhand (who is positivity personified) for a great day even in deteriorating conditions inshore. I think this was my fifth trip on the Cracker Jack, and I'm booked for two more in the immediate future. Capn Jack's knowledge of the fishery is outstanding, and he makes sure that all passengers are taken care of. Looking forward to more.

I went on a halibut/crabbing trip with Captain Shannon on the Gracie K. Very professional and polite and the man has his craft mastered.
Showed up at 5:30 and checked in with a safety briefing shortly after, at 6:00 we pushed off, all this is just as advertised and goes flawlessly.
After dropping crab pots Captain motors out to a “spot” that he hadn’t tried in a few years. He expertly sets up a drift and lets us drop baits, several hook ups and landed halibut on the first drift. A few resets on the drift and the boat limits out on halibut and we’re motoring back to shore before 10am!!
I saw a youngster catch his first halibut and a young man catch his first fish ever. All the while Captain Shannon made his rounds and gave expert advise on hooking halibut successfully. This trip was great and had many laughs and all around positive atmosphere.
Deck hand Travis and Sean did a great job getting people’s fish taken care of as well as giving advise and keeping everyone in the fishy zone. There were some tangled lines that had multiple halibut hooked and these guys got everyone’s fish on the boat. Excellent service and I will definitely be back, highly recommend Gracie K and Captain Shannon and crew.

Crabbing was ok, the boat splits the crab caught and I went home with 9 keepers of full dungy crab.

It’s worth mentioning that the service you get once at the dock is 5 star as well. The fish filet and crab cook and clean personnel are nice, polite and reasonably priced for services provided.

Another good trip, this my 4th year in a row of fishing with Yaquina Bay Charters. We went Rock Fishing for half a day everyone got their limit. Captain Jack and Anne the deck hand have always been pleasant to fish with. Anne gave the kids some involvement with the crab traps by having them help pull the crab traps up. I even managed to catch a Blue Lingcod, first time I have seen blue meat on a fish but after it cooks to white. Very delicious fish. My two sons are thinking of taking me out on Father’s Day. The cost to fillet the fish is very reasonable and if you purchase crabbing with your trip they cook the fresh crabs right on the docks. They put out one crab trap for each person who purchase the crab traps. Once we get out to sea they put the traps overboard. On the way back they pull the crab traps up.They count how many crabs have been caught and divide the total by how many people purchased them so everyone gets an equal share.

We had an excellent 1/2 day bottom fish and crab trip yesterday aboard the Spindrift. The Captain and deckhand were fantastic and a lot of fun. They were especially great with my 11 year old son who is still learning to fish. They joked with him and gave him a lot of attention which he thought was great. He started feeling seasick part way through and they checked on him several times. Everyone caught fish and had a ton of fun. Limits all around and caught a bunch of crab. This outfit has it dialed in and work hard while maintaining an engaging and fun atmosphere for everyone on board.

We will definitely be fishing with them on every trip to the area in the future (for more then one day next time), and I encourage you to book a trip and look no further!

* Special shout out to the gentleman who was lined up to clean our fish and crabs. He did an excellent job, very quickly, and worked very hard for a reasonable rate.

We booked a 1/2 day rock fish/lingcod trip. The company was great at all communication leading up to the trip and everything about check in and boarding the boat was easy and timely. The captain and crew were awesome. They helped when we needed it but otherwise let the fishermen do their thing.
This was an amazing opportunity to get out and enjoy some fresh air and fishing during these covid days.
We had our fish cleaned and bagged at the dock and those who got crab had theirs cooked and cleaned at the dock as well.
Highly recommend the charter company.

We had a wonderful day on the water. We had decided to try a new charter service and very glad we did. We were going on the near shore halibut/rock fish/ crabbing trip. Mother Nature didn't cooperate so it was too rough for the halibut :( but the trip was still excellent. Guess that just means we have to go back and try the halibut again. Office personnel is easy to work with and they are very helpful. We went on the Spindrift with Captain Jerald and deck hand Mark and they were right there making sure all of us had a good experience and the entire boat caught their limits of rock fish and crab. Can't get any better than that. From the booking to the boat crew to the fileters and crab cookers- A++

My wife and I took a 10 hour halibut/bottom fishing trip on the Spindrift with Capt. Jerald and deckhand Travis. There were 11 fishermen on board and the weather and seas were excellent. We started with about four hours trying for halibut, but they just weren’t biting. So, we moved in closer to shore and tried for bottom fish. Bingo! The action was fast and furious. Everybody caught their limits of sea bass and three of us caught lingcod. Mine was barely a keeper! Some of us a paid for crab pots that had been placed in the ocean the day before. Plenty of Dungeness crab was in the crab pots! Sadly, my wife and I were seasick for 3-4 hours at the start, but overcame it when we started catching bottom fish!
We couldn’t have asked for a better crew! Jerome knew just where to go and Travis took care of all of us and tended to us like family. They made the trip fun and well worth the price of the trip. I highly recommend this crew and boat for your trip out of Newport, Oregon!

I booked a half day of bottom fishing and crab for a group of 5. Captain Shannon and Deckhand Shawn on the Gracie K were exceptional hosts. Not only did we find fish almost every group on the boat limited out. It was a great day and great experience for everyone! I will definitely be booking another trip soon!

Great trip with my sons and son-in-law on the "Cracker Jack" with Captain Jack and First Mate Dylan. Caught our Rockfish limit within 1 1/2 hours of leaving the dock. Had to throw several more back after we switched to lingcod. Added on a couple of lingcod for a very nice day of fishing. Helped that it was a very calm day.

The weather was beautiful for our second fishing/crabbing charter with Yaquina Bay Charters. 12 fisherfolk on the boat was perfect for Brian, the friendly and helpful deckhand to handle. BUT. Last time we chartered, the crab pots were dropped the night before for a long overnight soak. We limited with 12 crab each. This time, however, the pots were dropped as we went out to fish, for only a 2-3 hour soak. Only 2 crab each. Very very disappointing. Especially when we got back to shore and found other boats with crab limits! Next time, we will ask about the crab soak.
