Great interactive activities for adults and kids. Took my Grandchildren from 14 to 2 and they all loved it. Nice enough outside to enjoy those exhibits also. Kids can't believe they can get so close to a seal or bird. Very enjoyable day.

The layout of the aquarium is beautiful, the exhibits are well cared for, and the staff is friendly. Best to visit with kids, it did not take long for my husband and I to walk through everything.

Second visit (see my review from 2014); this time with two senior citizens, one of them with walking disabilities. Some nice changes in the last four years; remodeled exhibits and one new addition - although the place is still rather small and pricey. But I...More

Haven’t been to the aquarium in Newport OR in years; was very nice to visit again. Was pleased at all the expanded exhibits. Some truly great examples of local and foreign sea life. Watching the sea otter feeding was a highlight of our visit, as...More

My wife and I attended the Aquarium on Veterans Day. The Oregon Coast Aquarium was very classy in letting vets in for free, and their family members for %10 off. Thank you. They have a nice variety of sea life, etc. We enjoyed walking through...More

Serious road trip to the coast. Had to go see where Free Willy's home was. Had to spend many hours watching him on his web cam when my girls were growing up. Nothing was posted about him... Nothing. Very disappointed.

It is very nicely laid out. Fun to go through the glass tunnels. They need more variety and to change the displays around more. Once you go a couple of time it gets old.

The Aquarium is awesome no matter what time of year you visit. The volunteers are wonderful - there is plenty to learn and around Christmas time, it's magical!

I have been to the aquarium over the years probably 5 or 6 times and like how the exhibits change. I wish the cost was a little more reasonably priced, it's getting quite expensive even just for 2 tickets is close to $50. Even taking...More

We cannot allow pets in the Aquarium due to the safety of our animals, but there are multiple reputable doggy daycares nearby!

Which Aquarium is better: Newport or Monterey Bay? (5 Replies)
We'll be in Oregon next month and I'm wondering if it's worth driving 2+ hours from our beach house in Manzanita to visit the Oregon Coast Aquarium. I'll be with kids 14, 17 and 20. I'll be in San Francisco a month later and if I choose to will have a chance to see the Monterey Bay Aquarium on a day trip to Monterey but it's $10.00 more. Which Aquarium delivers the most "bang for the buck" and why? I'll also be able to get in free with a Go San Francisco Card to the Aquarium on the Bay and...More

Monterey Bay hands down. It;s an amazing place. Get there as early in the morning as you can. Take time to have lunch so you can fully explore it. Newport is a great aquarium and it features the local marine life, just as Monterey features the marine life of that region, so they are somewhat different. I had a membership to Monterey for years even though I lived about a 4-5 hour drive away, its THAT good! Check out it's website. Why not do both?

Florence to Astoria in 3 days? (5 Replies)
We will be traveling the Oregon coast next month (August 2007). We plan on spending 1 day between Florence and Newport (spending the night in Newport). We will be spending 1 day between Newport and Astoria. We will be spending a third day in Astoria. We will have a two-year-old and a six-year-old with us. Our tentative itinerary is as follows: day 1: (Florence to Newport) Sea Lion Caves and Mariner Square (six-year-old son begging for Mariner Square). day 2: (Newport to Astoria) Oregon...More

Corvallis to Newport to Vancouver (11 Replies)
We will be driving from from Corvallis to Vancouver at end of August. We plan to leave Corvallis in the morning and stop by the Oregon Coast Aquarium in Newport and then drive up the coast. We need some advice on where to stay for one night (under $100) in one of the coastal cities (anywhere from Newport to Tillamook). Also any suggestions on what might be interesting for a 3-year will be much appreciated!
