About
At ROCO Winery, wines of great presence are about mastery and finesse in the cellar. Rollin Soles, our co-founder and winemaker, has been making acclaimed Oregon wines for nearly 30 years—transforming the raw material provided by soils and seasons through the art and science of barrels and bottles. The results, critics say, are world-class. Rollin Soles has always made wine. After a Masters in Enology/Viticulture he made wine in Switzerland, California, Washington, Australia and finally Oregon where he founded Argyle Winery. Thirty years later, you’ll still find Soles in his vineyard or boutique winery. Rollin holds the record for wines listed in Wine Spectator’s Top 100 (13 times) and produced the highest-rated domestic sparkling wine to date. Rollin and his wife, Corby, founded ROCO Winery in 2003 with the goal of crafting exceptional Pinot Noirs, Chardonnays and Sparkling wines that represent the unique attributes of the Willamette Valley.

Nice visit - would add to my list if I had several days to try many wineries

Overall nice experience. We visited six wineries and this fell in the middle of the pack:

1. Brooks
2. Beaux Freres
3. Shea
4. Roco
5. Trisaetum
6. Stoller

The wines were probably the most enjoyable part of the visit. The server was splitting his time between three different groups. He was very knowledgeable, but it was nothing like the special treatment you get at our top three.

The vineyard tasting room is pretty as is the outdoor seating area. There is no access to the production floor or the wine makers during a tasting. Give Shea or Beaux Freres a try if you want a tasting on the production floor.

Total time here was about 60 minutes. Advance reservations were required. The $25 tasting fee per person was waved with a minimum 3 bottle purchase per person. That is on the high end compared to the other wineries.

Meh

OK. Nothing to go out of your way for. The staff member was a bit strange telling very long (overly long) stories. Would likely not return.

Nice wines

We stopped in after a recommendation from another winery and we were not disappointed. Brianna was very personable and knowledgeable about wine. We loved the individual attention- a bonus that unfortunately is due to the pandemic. We liked the wines, especially the Ancient Waters Pinot.

Not bad but slightly disappointing

Maybe because we were given the recommendation to taste bubblies and we only got one. Nice room with lovely outdoor patio with water feature. Took a little while for anyone to realize we were there.

Do not recommend for 20-somethings
May 2018 • Friends
A group of 8 of us, all in our 20's, went winery hoping for a birthday celebration. We ended up at Roco as our last stop. They checked on the other tasting groups (age +50) but wanted little to do with us. I will not be visiting again.

Highly rated wines

The wines are excellent and highly rated by notable sources. Rather pricey but not out of line with the area.

Excellent Wines

It would be hard to find a wine that's better than what Rollin has. If you had to pick one wine to drink for the rest of your life this would be it. I can't count the number of times I've been to ROCO over the years. They always have the best. It's a benchmark winery.

Great Pinot Noir!!
May 2018 • Solo
I visited this winery for all of maybe 30 minutes early in May. I arrived before they opened but they allowed me in around 10:30 am or so and I tried a tasting flight of their wines. I was looking for a sparkling wine as a gift. The one I tried was good but not to the taste of the person whom I was trying to buy one for. I tried their Pinot Noirs and their Marsh Estate and Private Stash were very good!! I did not end up buying their wine that day but bought some after arriving back in Florida about a month later, the two bottles mentioned. They sent them overnight and they arrived cool in cold packs and Styrofoam. Very well done keeping the wine cool!! I look forward to drinking these wines on special occasions and probably buying more in the future!! If you have not tried their Private Stash and are a lover of Pinot Noir you are in for a treat!!

Authentic and nice

A charming winery making some high-quality wines.

We stopped in on a Tuesday based on recommendations from a sommelier friend and local wine folks and enjoyed a tasting and had the winery all by ourselves which was nice.

Our host introduced us to their wines and we did a prestige tasting ($25) that we shared. The newly released rose was delicious as were the pinots.

Definitely worth a stop
