This park is a beautiful and scenic! You don't have to travel to far to enjoy it. We have had several family reunions here, and everyone enjoys it.

Fisherman's Bend is about a half hour's drive from the State Capital of Oregon. Located next to the beautiful Santiam River it is operated by the federal.Bureau of Land Management. Camping is available fo tent sites and small campers and RVs. It is well kept and convenient. The camping sites are rather close in proximity but with enough room for some privacy. It fills up fast on weekends throughout the summer season and is closed shortly after Labor Day until the Spring, around Memorial Day. The park has a few group sites available and the fishing during the open period is not too bad for salmon and trout. Close to local eateries and other amenities. It's also a great spot to do some river tubingif or kayaking if you are so inclined.

The fish are stealthy, the trees are y'all and the water meanders down the river. Great camp grounds.

We stayed the weekend. What attracted me was a review from a parttier who got locked out of the park. I love the idea of keeping the park quiet at night. Some people want to party all the time and they should do so else where!

Close to Salem. Nice camping facilities. Firewood. Fire pits. Right on the Santiago River. Best during the week for uncrowded camping. Forested setting with pines, hardwood, ferns & mossy oaks.

Living in Salem there are not many places that are close to home for camping. But one is Fisherman's Bend on Hwy 22. Very nice campground with the river close by, plenty for kids to do, and very clean. My only issue is that I have a 33 ft 5th and it was very hard to get it parked.

Located along the Santiam River, just east of Santiam State Park (Oregon), this fine, clean and extensive RV and tent campground is a gem. The park is quiet, close to the river, walking trailes and will signed. Recycle bins are located througout the park as are water faucets. The services for RVers are superb. Multiple outlet electrical boxes, two voltages, excellent water outlets, a dumping station and campsite kitchen disposal units. They patrol the campground frequently, monitor comings and going and keep the place emmaculate. We plan to go back many more times

As any campers know who like off the beaten path campgrounds, BLM and Army Corps of Engineer campground beat national forest campground into the ground...but then again, they serve a different purpose.
This campground has full hookups although the even numbered sites didn't have water but it is very close if you wanted to fill your tank and they have a place at the main host site up front to fill your water tanks before you go to your site. If you have enough hose, you just might even be able to fill your fresh water tank from a convenient road outlet. It is very reasonably priced like under thirty bucks and there is a variety of campsites ranging from back in to drive throughs. Each has its own wooden "corral" area where your firepit is along with tent areas and each is huge. All sites are private and the ones in the trees provide complete privacy. Some of the trees are old growth it looks like.
This is a good location that can act as a base camp for the coast, Salem, Portland and out to Sisters, Bend and the Willamette Valley wine country.
I highly recommend it. Good phone no internet and be careful some of the sites are extremely tight. We have a 21 foot travel trailer and it just barely fit in our first site and we had to block the road for a bit to get it in. So call the ranger station before reserving a site and ask would be my recommendation.

This was a surprise for us.
Good water access and landing for non-motorized water craft (kayaks, rafts, tubes). Seems to be good fishing because they were landing them fly fishing. Good places to walk into the water even with the rocks.
Decent parking and everyone was pleasant and answered questions about the area and how much they enjoyed it.
couple of picnic benches.

This is a difficult review to post. It's like posting about your favorite fishing hole. Fisherman's Bend Campground has moved to the top of my favorite campgrounds.
This BLM campground exceeds all my campground "must include" features. Great camp hosts, next to the river, clean showers and bathrooms, trails to hike, playground for children, privacy between sites, lots of drive through sites, garbage cans located in appropriate places, wood for sale at reasonable price, one and half mile walk or drive to local community for forgotten supplies, nice signage in the park, and honors the Golden Age Pass.
If you have been searching for a group campground spot then Fisherman's Bend is the place! Group campsite fees are very reasonably priced. The day site group area actually has a propane stove for cooking, fireplace, and sinks. Lots of picnic tables.
The overnight group site has electrical/water and the campground has a dumpsite.
Reservations must be made in advance. I have nothing to suggest as far as improvements. I love this campground.

I remember all of the sites having a dump similar but not all have water.

I'm interested in taking my family camping here this summer. Is the water along the river loop calm enough for kids to swim in?

Hey, I just called them and they told me that the office is open Sunday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm. On Saturday's it could be 8:00 to 12:00p but they generally are open until 5:00 on that day also but not always. Hope this helps.
