I had the amazing opportunity to enjoy the weekend (3 Day Trip) with my colleagues navigating the Rogue River in Merlin, OR. There were several other outfitters however our leadership landed on the Orange Torpedo Rafting Tour company because of their 50-year history, impeccably professional and experienced staff.
We were surrounded by nearly 100-years of experience on the Rogue River with Billy, Mike, Tim, Grant and Joe at the helm. The extreme professionalism, care and concern for our team with an emphasis on safety made the trip beyond enjoyable.
We slept comfortably in lodges with amazing cooked dinners and breakfast each day, which helped make the trip more enjoyable.
BRASS TAX
This was my first time in a Torpedo and for a 55-year old, who sits at a desk all day (and probably needs to shed more than a few pounds), this trip for the first two days was Awesome! By day three (3) I was tired. After a good dunk on the Class IV (High Class III) rapid, I was toast. I do need to recognize Grant for helping get me out of the river in a really tight spot... Truly grateful to pop up and see this young man ready to yank me out (was that the third or fourth time)... ha!
You need to be ready to work hard! I would equate it with curling a five pound weight all day, and every so often they throw you a 25 pound weight for 5 minutes. It is not for the faint of heart and the elderly, complainers, or those who lack the confidence to 'go for it' should stay in the supply boats. Personally I need to lose 50 pounds, work out for a couple months and tackle this again. When they tell you to 'kiss the boat' and your gut is in the way... its tough!
In closing I have to say that the history on the Rogue, great guides, exciting adventure made this well worthwhile.

My wife and I did two full day trips on the North Umpqua in inflatable kayaks covering sections 1-4. Garrett was our guide and Nate was the guide in training who accompanied us.
Both guides were great and Garrett was excellent in picking the lines and also in eddying out before the big water to discuss the rapid and what to avoid. They were both personable and professional, and safety conscious while insuring they did everything they could to make both days memorable.
Cory at Orange Torpedo worked with us to make it happen by changing a two day into two single day trips owing to the lack of accommodations in the area since the National Forest campgrounds were closed.
Great guides, great outfit and great water!

Craig, great to hear you enjoyed your time on the North Umpqua River. It is so incredibly beautiful up there. Congrats on inflatable kayaking the Umpqua, it is one of our more challenging inflatable kayak adventures so well done!

There aren't enough words to describe our adventure rafting the Rogue with OTT. Amazing, thrilling, relaxing, life-changing, and wonderful are just the beginning. Our guides for the 4-day, 3 night trip were Chris, Billy, Tom and Josh and from the very start they were there for anything we needed. From navigating Class 2,3 (and a 4) rapids, showing us the hidden glories and history of the Rogue River, and keeping us safe yet challenged all the while keeping us laughing and making new friends.
This was a first for my family and I would do it again in a heartbeat. Rafting all day and staying at a lodge with all the meals prepared was a vacation for this mama. The guides handled everything and their expertise and care were excellent. I highly recommend Orange Torpedo Trips and hope to return for another adventure on the Rogue. Thank you!

We did the 3 day Wild and Scenic Rogue River trip. There were 15 dads and sons in our Father's Day Weekend expedition. It was the absolute trip of a lifetime! From the knowledgeable and experienced guide team (Scott, Billy, Derek, Jim and Tim) to the spectacular natural beauty and rustic but fun lodges, this is a MUST DO trip. We did the inflatable kayaks and by day 2 of 3, everyone in our group was running the river like old pros. Having Jim and his team there in case of any falls made the experience safe and exhilarating. The food at the lodges was solid and the conditions on the river were perfect. If you are not a serious adventure seeker, you might want to opt to ride in the big raft instead of a kayak, as they can be tricky to maneuver for some.

We are returning customers to OTT, and as ever they do not disappoint. On our 4 day, 3 night trip down the Wild & Scenic Lower Rogue River we were treated to the wild beauty of the river, stunning and ever changing landscapes, and wildlife including osprey, bald eagles, and even a leaping sturgeon. We rafted, kayaked, hiked, swam, and had a little bit of down time to relax. Our guides were professional, putting safety first, and yet were playfully fun and lighthearted. Having spent his entire life on the river, our guide Billy shared his extensive knowledge and great stories on the history of the area and it's colorful population. Chris, our trip leader, has an infectious sense of humor, is an excellent instructor, and is very thoughtful, paying great attention to the needs of each guest. We just can't speak highly enough of OTT, and the Rogue. Looking forward to all of our "next" trips!

We were scheduled with another tour group but our trip was cancelled the night before we were to depart. Our tour group recommended OTT. We called them and left a message a then called the very next day. They were doing the same tour which was a 4 day hike the Rogue with raft support and staying in the lodges for 3 nights. We got a phone call that they had room to accommodate us in the lodges and we were able to join OTT on the trip. We Had Mike, Chris and Elijah as our guides and they were all awesome. The food was great and they even took care to plan keto lunches for us. They took great care of us and were very informative and helpful along the journey. We would highly recommend this outfitter to people who want to hike the Wild and Scenic Rogue River with raft support.

Did the 3 day Rogue River rafting and kayaking trip with a large group of dads and high school aged boys. We had a fantastic experience all around, despite some very rainy and cold weather day 1. The Orange Torpedo guide staff could not have been more professional and knowledgable about the river. They're a fantastic and fun group to hang out with all the way from the seasoned vets to the college students. They made us feel comfortable both on and off the river.

We are a family group from nine years to 70 years old. We found this river experience to be thrilling, fun and empowering.
Our skilled guide Derek communicated instructions clearly for a successful rafting trip. Derek was enthusiastic and made the trip fun and interesting for all of us.
We were also appreciative that the Oregon phone representative helped us choose the right adventure for our group.

A wonderful experience!!! We did 2 days rafting in Grand Pass, sleeping under the star - it was amazing!!! We were 3 families, all together 15 people, kids ages 9-14. It was supper fun! We took 2 rafting boats and 4 kayaks. Best experience for the kids. Our instructors were supper professional, kind and fun. They cooked for us, told us stories and made the experience the best one in our trip! Highly recommend! Great family adventure

We had an amazing day thanks to Orange Torpedo Rafting. The gentleman who signed us up was so patient with my husband’s need for reassurance about security for our car. We had NOTHING to worry about 😊All of our gear was included and the cost was reasonable! Yay! Cam was awesome getting us set up at the river and answering all of our many questions. It was the first time we had been in a kayak on the river. When we got to Galice, Cam was waiting for us. He was so helpful getting my husband up out of the kayak. I highly recommend this company!
