My husband & I just did a 4-day wine & gourmet food rafting trip down the Rogue River, and it was absolutely phenomenal — great guides & crew, top to bottom. Nicole, our trip lead, serenaded us with blues songs rafting down the river in calm stretches and then gave us “newt sexting”, geology, and ecology lessons around the area. Maddy & Dray were excellent river guides—navigating us through Class III and IV rapids with seeming ease and giving us great history about the river (I even like Dray’s “dad jokes!” :) ) The rest of the crew was great too — Colin (with his “banjulele”), Ray, Yancey & Russell kept us well-supplied and set up at each camp. Our chef Carrie (With Brandon) gave us unbelievable gourmet meals cooked “river side” with local ingredients, and our personal sommeliers Terri and Amanda from Wooldridge Winery & Creamery kept us well supplied with fabulous wines. We experienced wonderful weather, fantastic scenery, wildlife from multiple bald eagles and deer to a mink and even a bear (snoozing by the river). We even got to try whitewater kayaking, which was a blast. I can’t recall a better camping trip — and now of course I’m spoiled for life!!

We did a 5-day raft trip on the wild & scenic section of the Rogue River with OARS in July 2021. They were excellent every step of the way, from the trip booking and coordinating with the office through the actual trip with all the logistics. The 6 guides provided an excellent, safe, exciting trip! We thoroughly enjoyed it and their level of professionalism and skill is exemplary. The guides made sure that the group had opportunities for all ages (7 to 73) and fitness/adventure skill levels to enjoy the river, including hikes, jumping/swimming chances, inflatable kayaks, etc. They allowed experienced kayakers/rafters to bring our own boats too, which we really enjoyed. They took great care of us in camp too, including accommodating a family member who has to eat gluten-free (meals were all celiac-friendly!!). They also knew exactly what to do with minor first aid needs of our group. Would definitely recommend OARS.

Travelling solo, I had four days three nights on the Rogue - what a great trip. My first OARS experience and my first time proper rafting so I've nothing really to compare them to, but I was genuinely impressed. The scenery was gorgeous, the kit in great condition (bear in mind this was the last trip of the Rogue season) and the people lovely - safety first, but always wanting you to have as much fun as possible. We saw quite a lot of wildlife and, as a solo traveller in a small group, I had a great time. Quite how they made the kind of meals they did, I'm not entirely sure - but you really wouldn't think you were in the middle of nowhere!! I came from England for this (and had another awesome week in Colorado afterwards), both of which were bucket list items...and well worth every mile travelled!!

Having been on other oufitter's trips on both rivers and land I base my rating upon how OARS stacks up. Overall it was a very good trip. The gudes are excellent and provide a high level of comfort (with the river) and skill and are very good at what they do. We took part in a "wine & food" trip. The breakfasts & dinners were inspiring and there was more than enough quality and quantity to go around. The wine part was acceptable, however it was all from one vineyard which was disappointing. What this trip lacked (for me) was the awesome nature of the scenery - when I compare the Rogue to say the Grand Canyon rafting there just isn't a comparison - but that is probably being picky and there isn't anything OARS can do about the setting. OARS provided everything needed including helmets, PFDs, tents, etc - so all we had to tote along were our clothes and personal items.

What a fantastic experience! Great guides, fun times and food/wine that was off-the-charts excellent. Clearly this is a well run company- the overall organization and professionalism was clear from the beginning. Really, I cannot say enough good things about the overall experience with Oars. As an aside, be aware that the Rogue is not a river for true adventure seekers, the stretch we rafted was mostly class 2 and 3; Oars brings along a number of inflatable kayaks for those looking for more thrills- very enjoyable and safe.
