Excellent library with large collection of books

Anybody who does genealogy for a hobby and is in this area should absolutely make a point of visiting this library, where the volunteer staff includes at least one retired professional librarian. Everything is very well-organized, and they have a very large book collection (cataloged online on their website, so you can look up books by state/county and make a list of what to see before you even get there). Huge Pennsylvania collection, but other states as well. I found some helpful information in Pennsylvania books here that even the Carnegie Library in Pittsburgh doesn't have. Highly recommended.

I attended a class after getting my DNA. Very informative. Sign up for annual membership (About $30) and gain access to multiple databases! Also they have folks to help you get started. Lots of resources here...I'll have to spend more time here in the near future!

I have visited this library twice while visiting Medford. I've been trying to find out more about relatives that lived in the area in the early 20th century. The staff is very helpful and dug up some resources that were very useful. Small enough to be personal, large enough to have good resources.

Fantastic Resource for geneology. Knowledgeable, friendly staff. Annual memberships are reasonable and provide access to large data base, workshops, classes and events.

The key to this library are the dedicated and very savvy volunteers. They'll get you started in your search, answer questions, lead you to books in their extensive collection, help you learn to use their many online resources and generally just cheer you on as you search for your family roots. If that's not enough, you can take specialized classes and .

Wow! If you're into genealogy this is the place to go. For just $5.00 a day or $30 a year, you have access to a huge research library as well as 7 different research web sites on about 13 different patron computers, including Ancestry! The annual membership is cheaper than any one of the web subscriptions would cost you. JCGL has an extensive collection of birth, marriage, and death records; family histories, books, bulletins, cemetery records, obituaries, local maps, microfilm and microfiche, and newspaper abstracts for every state and many countries. They offer regular classes and seminars on genealogy, even for beginners. Mentoring is also available. Their website has the entire library catalog as well as indices for many of their collections. They will also do the research for you for a minimal fee. What a tremendous resource for my genealogy research!
