About
Eden Valley Orchards 2319 Voorhies Road Medford, OR 97501 This orchard property has been in cultivation since the mid-1850s. Joseph H. Stewart bought and named Eden Valley Orchards in 1885 and became widely recognized as the father of the commercial pear industry in Southern Oregon. It historically has been a social gathering place for local people, and its proportions, surrounding amenities, and valley views are highly attractive to guests. Our estate pears are made into hard pear cider to be released this winter.

We discovered EdenVale because they are ‘Harvest Hosts’ and will accommodate an overnight RV stay for Harvest Host members. This review is for both the winery and the Harvest Host experience…
EdenVale Winery is a 5 star Harvest Host experience that RVers will love. Note: in wet weather, which is often in these parts, you’ll be very happy to have four wheel drive. The grassy field alongside the pear orchard where you’ll park your RV is, well, a grassy field. The setting is quiet and bucolic and a short stroll to the main house and nearby tasting room.
The wine tasting experience:
The staff (Emily, Jenny, Nino) immediately made us feel relaxed and genuinely welcomed. The white and red wines and warm ciders were delicious.
We order the Charcuterie Plate: Served with crostini and fresh bread. Delicious!
So many have commented on the interesting history, beauty and ambiance of this place and we echo those impressions. All in all, we feel very grateful to have experienced EdenVale and hope to visit again and often.

We have never wine-tasted in the Rogue Valley area and were excited to see a new area. EdenVale was absolutely beautiful in its landscaping and statue. The wine was good, tasting room was located in the old carriage house with many original
components still intact. Chrissy was an exceptional host offering plenty of historical facts and fun stories about the property. She was even giving our 11-year old a history lesson about the property and area. I would love to see the grounds in the summer! We will be back!

Wonderful history, make sure you go back to the older building where the rest rooms are. That said the wines were awful, perhaps way too long opened or just too old to be served in the first place. All of the reds smelled like port, which is a bad sign Their wines are high priced too. Come here for a visit to the property, but at least for us we won't be buying any of their wines anytime soon.

We visited EdenVale Winery for the first (and probably last) time by attending their S’More Love with Inter Courses, Bonfire and Dancing at EdenVale’s Historic Barn last weekend. Although it was billed as a food and wine pairing, it turned out that for $69 per person, you got one glass of wine and a buffet dinner. The "pairing" was suggestions of other glasses of wine which you could purchase. The historic barn was freezing (the explanation was that they had had another event earlier in the day and used up the propane for one of the heaters), so by the time you took your buffet food (which was OK, but not worth the price) back to the table, it was quite cold. Where I come from, a bonfire is a large pile of wood that puts out a lot of heat, but their version was two trash barrels which did not put out enough heat to attract any visitors. There was an open space for dancing (although no one danced while we were there) and a pre-recorded stream of oldies (there was a gentleman eating dinner near there, so I assume he was the DJ, although I never saw him touch the music source).
We found the event to be very disappointing, and the two red wines that they were pouring to be mediocre, so we will not be returning nor putting them on our list of recommended stops for our visitors.

The price of the wine tasting flights was not clearly noted in the tasting room. The three of us split two and sat outside. The nose on every single pour was severely "off" -- a very chemically smell. We thought perhaps some detergent had been left in a glass, but all three glasses? One of the wines had definitely turned. None of the wines were good and we dumped most of them after the first taste. This is very rare for us. We paid an unusually high $15 per tasting, as if this was a known label in Napa. It's too bad -- we really wanted to enjoy this place. If you have no clue about wines, you might be very happy here. If you know your wines and have a reasonably knowledgeable palate, skip it. I truly hope it was an "off day" or an "off year" but at $15 per tasting to go out of our way, we won't be back to find out.

After our wine tasting of several delicious wines, including a pear cider, we purchased two bottles and ordered a baked Brie with crostinis to accompany two glasses of their cider wine blend, brought to us as we sat in the shade on Adirondack chairs in the shade on a warm and sunny day. With our two small dogs nearby, we found this to be heavenly. Highly recommend the wines and the place.

EdenVale is my favorite winery, and what makes them stand out among the many other Southern Oregon wineries is how they age their wine before release. You can try their 2006 Claret, a 2007 Syrah, and many wines just as old. They were made for ageing, and they have aged well. Also, the tasting room staff are funny and good natured.

By far one of the most underrated wineries in the region. It is definitely a must visit destination if you are in the area of Medford, and they have some of the nicest staff you might encounter in all of Oregon.

Lovely historic old fruit orchard from the Rogue Valley's agrarian days. Great event site. But the transition to a winery has been troubled. Really.Bad.Wine.
